I'm totally under the spell of this song:
Open-faced sandwiches are upon you whether you would risk it or not.

Abiding memory of the Beastie Boy's is getting a pasting from my older brother because I was constantly sneaking into his room and taking Hello Nasty to listen to after I heard him playing it. I got pretty obsessed with that album and it's still my favourite of all their music
It was just so stunningly different to anything I was listening to as a kid. Not just that it was my first taste of hip-hop but the way it moved through different styles and blended together with weird interludes. I take that stuff for granted now but back then anything that wasn't from the charts felt very alien. It was different to how I viewed what my dad played, because I just treated that as 'dad music'. Hearing my brother playing something so weird was fascinating to me. Yeah, and that artwork.
Think I need to thank my brother for buying that album!
I wouldn't say I was a massive fan of the Beastie Boys, but I can't think of a single song of theirs I've heard that I haven't enjoyed. That's pretty good going. Despite that, I felt pretty gutted when hearing the news. At the time, watching Intergalactic was just the coolest thing ever.
I'll just leave this here for now..
Right now? This:
More from The Shins
Port of Morrow? Eh, too early to tell. I've heard just about two tracks from it and I find Rifle's Spiral to quite an amazing track. Simple Song's okay, if you ask me.
