Not a great song by any means, but an awesome (if a mite disturbing video)

Rachel Zeffira's The Deserters could be a late contender for one of my favourite albums of the year, it really is rather gorgeous:
Aural bliss
I've been listening to an awful lot of Eläkeläiset (The Pensioners) lately. They're mainly known for making humppa-covers for many pop music songs, like "Light My Fire" below. Lyrics usually are about stuff that pensioners do - go to weekend dances, eating around million kinds of medicine, drinking lots of lots of booze and so forth.
In memory of spending 4.5 hours trying to get tickets this morning. I failed.
Open-faced sandwiches are upon you whether you would risk it or not.
Unlucky, Dubbill. I was sorely tempted but ended up staying out of the maelstrom.
The Tate's website died when the tickets went on sale leaving only the phone lines. Worst part was seeing tickets appear on eBay and Viagogo while I was busy hitting redial and scowling at the engaged tone :s

Yeah bit of a shambles. Just bung the albums on at home and sit staring at the itunes visualiser or something.
I discovered this on the Midnight Club LA soundtrack. It won a Grammy for best remix in 2009.

New Steve Mason. Album due next year. SQUEEE!
Bah! My blog is fulla bollox! What? Don't believe me?Here! Just look at it!
The problem I have with The Prodigy is that I can't think of them without thinking of WipEout...and that now there's no Studio Liverpool to keep making them. Grrr. Great music though. I heard most of the 90's through my brother and sister playing their CDs. A lot of that stuff I've started getting into now. It was funny though when I started listening to the first Garbage album and was going "...hey, I remember this!" That's just the recent example too. I think "I've got the poison; I've got the remedy" will be etched into my brain forever though.
Anyhow. Any fans of The Pretty Reckless? There was something a bit odd about a 16/17 y.o. singing the things they were (and the videos even turned that up to eleven) but, I really liked the first album. Turns out they've got a new album coming out soon and released this new lyric video thing. I quite like it. Ended up going a few more of their post-album singles and there's some interesting stuff.
I was a bit concerned with the beginning; I'm not in love with the "slow songs on a rock album" but it was obviously intentional and I haven't been able to remove it from my head since I found it last night.
Rebekka Karijord - Use my body while it's still young
Just discovered Mirel Wagner. I think the video description puts it best: "Mirel Wagner is a 23 year old singer/songwriter, born in Ethiopia and raised in Espoo, Finland. Since age 16 she's writing gloomy Blues and Folk songs, stripped down to the bone. It's just about her airy but rough voice and a minimalistic guitar picking. Avoiding theatralic gestures effortlessly her music has a unique intensity and emotional weight alike. "No Death" is the first single from her debut album".

Drone is the gift that keeps on giving. I've been whiling away the Holidays with the various projects of Aidan Baker. This one is particularly potent.
