@Kelron: Thank you for bringing up Oingo Boingo. Their music was always fun to listen to.

Rick Redbeard - No Selfish Heart

It's a solo album from the lead singer of the excellent and criminally underrated Phantom Band featuring stuff that doesn't quite fit on their albums. Part of the charm of the Phantom Band for me is that they seem to be an act whose members want to pull it in all kind of different directions but still manage to come up with cohesive and brilliant albums. From the sounds of this it's clear where their more folky influence are coming from. It's a beautiful album.

Ha, I visited with the intention of posting an MBV track for the same reason. Since you beat me to it let's go with this:

Edit: album's up and the site's currently broken: http://www.mybloodyvalentine.org/

I know, it's from a game and I almost feel loathed to put it down, but trust me; I wouldn't abuse the thread purpose. If this doesn't get stuck in your head while you listen, your money back guaranteed.

The Fairest of the Season by Nico. Bit old but really nice in the ear

Also, you might like to hear a different version of it which used in Restless (2011)

OK I'm so unbelievably late to the party with this one that I'm sure someone else will have mentioned this guy at some point already, but I DON'T CARE.

Not really big into house, but man can it grab me sometimes. Wonderful album.

The new MBV record: It's pretty good, huh? Basically Loveless 2 but since Loveless is my favourite record, like, evar, that's just fine.

Yeah, it's not going to change anyone's life but as a continuation of something I already love, it suits me just fine.

I'm finding the MBV thing odd. It's rare that I see such excitement over something and think "I've never heard of them and can think of exactly none of their songs." This isn't a comment on their music (which I haven't listened to enough of yet to judge) I just find not having heard of things that were a "big deal" at all a rather rare occurrence.

I can only respond with (at 4:40 on video on that page and the sound is terrible):

I learned about Daniel Johnston from this thread. If you like him you should check out Lone Pigeon. The similarities are incredible both favour super low-fi recording, and both can write an unbelievable catchy tune. Unfortunately LP's also suffered from some serious mental health issues, but it did help shape some beautiful, weird songs (feels a bit wrong to be thankful for his problems - you know what I mean). Thankfully he's ok now and joined up with most of the Beta Band (which he helped form) to form the Aliens.

Here he is at his heartbreaking best:

But he does a lot of upbeat stuff too.

I found out there was a second Mariachi El Bronx album, I love this pop Mexican stuff.

Best song from their previous album of doing it.
