I needed something upbeat on the background. Goes well with long hours of monotone labor.

I was a chump and went straight to amazon for the album, but he actually has a bandcamp page stuffed with music. DSU is really quite fantastic.

Frank Turner's cover of Thunder Road. Classic song that's hard to beat, but Frank does it and I can listen to it over and over again.

Warning: I'm going to not like things other people like, okay? I... don't really get the love for Perturbator among videogame players - it seems based on little more than "Oh, he's the guy who was on the Hotline Miami soundtrack" and his cruddy heavy metal album art. (And it's kinda weird to me we criticise developers for going to that particular well but not a guy who seems to love ripping off 1980s soft porn a little too much.)

Perturbator's not bad exactly but there's just much, much better synthwave out there IMO, more musical, tighter grooves, better programming, all without bashing you over the head and shouting LOOK HOW JOHN CARPENTER I CAN BE every five seconds.

Having experienced Dream Theater live (for the first time) and open air this weekend I'm currently going through their albums. I've been listening to their stuff on and off for years now and many songs bring back memories of some really great times during my studies.

Weird Al has released a new album called Mandatory Fun. It's available to listen to in full on Spotify. He'll be releasing more videos over the coming days of some of the tracks, but two are out so far. One is Tacky (parody of 'Happy') and the other is, well, this:

    It's good stuff.

That's three for three on his videos then all being good. I wonder where the next one will turn up considering they've all been hosted in different spots. And yeah, Foil has a fantastic twist. Whilst with the video it's a lot more obvious, when I was just listening to the album last night (and it's really rather good!) it took me a bit longer to work out what was going on. It's a hilarious twist.

I've heard that he basically got funding through these various video series and thats why they are all on different ones, plus I guess its cool goodwill to the fans which are probably using all these different "funny"(note the quotemarks it kind of says my view on most of these video makers) video series
