It's the final countdown (taadaa), BF3-gameplay footage rolling in..

So, I just saw this (for me) real BF3-footage from a Rush game on Kharg Island (on the PS3, but hey, it's real). And I'm stoked.

And it makes me happy to see they fixed some of the points that annoyed me during the Beta:

    - there's a way to request ammo
    - less automated chatter, so the game doesn't seem to be constantly screaming at you
    - movement seems to be smoother
    - a real minimap

Also, this looks so good, can't wait until it unlocks..and I'm even thinking about sneak-unlocking it on Vietnam-time..

Anybody else found some videos to add to the final hype?

    p.s.:
Didn't see any other thread like this (only people ranting about Origin & EA :p ), so if I was blind, point me in the right direction please.

Not really sure, but it seems they changed the scoring. So a kill would get you 50 points in the beta while it seems to be 100 now...so it should be quite fast. Which is good, since there seems to be much more to unlock.
Also, not quite sure if I like the auto-repair in tanks..

Can't really compare it to BF2 though (only BC2)..

US military should forbid their soldiers from playing this game. Shooting an aircraft with a tank main-gun in real battlefield is simply suicide.

Yeah, the player in that vid was a bit shit (he was also called FetusPuncher, which is a lovely image.)

Never really got into the previous games, despite owning 1942 and BF2. Really enjoyed the beta for this though and placed my pre-order after a few hours with it. I few things I really hope they do improve though:

    - The squad system, as it is baffling why you are unable to select a squad in game.

    - The map, which was fairly hopeless and didn't help for learning the levels at all.

    - The menu system. Particular not having to wait until you are in game to alter options, change class loadouts and quit the game.

Pretty much everything about the actual gameplay was great though, so can't wait until it is out here in the UK on Friday.

Dice have confirmed that this is fixed.

Not sure about this one, the map was awful and everyone wants a decent one that is actually informative however I don't think it was fixed.

You can change it before you spawn now, but you still need to be in-game which kinda sucks.

He, but it would be a great sight..shooting a flying jet with a tank main-gun would be quite the stunt..

In the video in the respawn-screen you can see a prompt "push x to enter squad-management", so I guess it'll be possible to change and organize squads (I hope).

They should court martial them if they try it ingame :P. In BF3, it is apperently also suicide.

    Hit Registration Improved

The server at the Nvidia LAN was setup in Los Angeles, 5 hours away from the event. The hit registration and net code have been fixed from the beta. Now you will be able to know exactly when and where you are getting shot from rather then falling and thinking you got “one shotted” like in the Open Beta.

    Tons of Vehicles

Operation Firestorm (The desert Oil field map) is much larger then Caspian Border. Each team gets 6 Main Battle Tanks at start + the ones from spawn points. This map has diversity of two story factory buildings with 500m or more between control points on conquest mode. This map is vehicle focus rather then infantry. We personally can’t wait to roll with our friends in a 6 M1-Abrams deep armor column.

Mini / Full map is back

The full blown mini-map is back like the original battlefield, when you open up you can see your teammates as well as spotted enemies

    Mortar for kicking Ass

Many have wondered what the Mortar unlock would be like. When you mount it, the minimap appears with a crosshair of where to drop your mortar round down on. This is a sign that DICE will probably implement more artillery items in the future.

    3D Spotting is Tweaked

Now the 3D Spotting works properly. You will lose track of your enemies when they got out of view be it in a bush or around a corner.

    Manage your Squad

Squad Management is back with up to 8 Squads. In this build the commorose wasn’t enabled so you were forced to use Q (spotting key) to place squad orders. Our guess is once commorose is implemented, a squad order system much like battlefield 2 will be brought back.

If you hated the Beta, all has changed

From what we’ve heard from everyone at the NVIDIA LAN event, this build is very polished and has made those with doubts really quite excited for Battlefield 3. It really looks like this game is the true sequel we are waiting for. Thanks to DICE for working so hard on this to get it in our hands in just under 2 weeks. We will be sure to keep you posted if we learn any more details on teh conquest version of Damavand Peaks. We know you are all eager to hear about that base jumping segment!

Also First Day Patch contains CommoRose and even more fixes, especially from the Beta.

Do the jet pilots intentionally hit the ground every single time they do a strafing run?

Aww, I was hoping the mortar would be an "easy-to-use, hard to master" affair like in BF: Vietnam.
On the other hand it makes it a lot easier for mortar crews to fire upon spotted enemies.

You're going to need a lot of mortar crews for a 6-Abrams column. Quite exciting!

But it'll be quite hard to get that coordinated. I'm so looking forward to that huge tank-centric map..

    p.s.:
Wait..BF Vietnam (I'm thinking of the BC2-addon here) had mortars? How did I miss those?

Will there be an RPS server? Will my status as an outlander make it unplayably laggy for me?
