Cabin in the Woods was pretty darn good. Most enjoyable.
The Raid was one of the best action movies I've seen in a while.

Now I'm just waiting for Skyfall and Dredd to make it to Japan (though it looks like the latter won't). Hoping to catch the LOTR movies in the cinema again before the hobbit release too... gonna be bankrupt in december!

Wait a couple of months for the bluray release and download it. :)

Just saw Looper and Lawless. Both were really good. was kind of hoping Looper would've been a bit better but overall i can't complain. Lawless was great though i think. I live in an area of the world where people still make white lightnin' (moonshine) and it was a very interesting movie. Guy Pearce was excellent, i really think he an underrated actor, in his role.

Watched Let the Right One In which was very, very excellent. Great acting, beautiful cinematography, good pacing, interesting twists.

I'm a huge David Lynch fan. I sat all the way through The Holy Mountain. I thought Pi and Being John Malkovich were brilliant... But I have to hand it to Joseph Kahn, Detention is hands-down the weirdest movie I've ever seen. Much like Cabin in the Woods, the best comparisons I can come up with stem from the films it noddingly apes, but it's probably best to just go in blind. It's surprisingly brilliant, considering the only other movie the director has made to date was the legendarily awful Torque.

Finally got to see Skyfall and not a moment too late! (Spoilers)

Overall, I enjoyed it. That said, I took issue with quite a few things in it, from unnecessary moments (he gets shot, falls a considerable way down into hard water and then off a waterfall??? Oh, and the KEYBOARD=HACKING, amongst others) to a few plot-holes. I absolutely loved the nods to Bond's heritage and how this was used, joked about or whatever (but those bastards for destroying the DB5. Those utter, utter bastards). That said, I found the first half lacking somehow. I can't quite put my finger on it, but the second half was much better. The theme song and credits, whilst matching up nicely, I didn't enjoy either. I liked the symbolism, but it just felt way too HERE IS SYMBOLISM AND LOTS OF COLOURS. When compared to Casino Royale (apt considering the same guy did both) I felt there was just a bit too much going on and that whilst CR's had less symbolism in it, what it did have it did amazingly. The film also suffered from blue and orange saturation a few too many times.

So yes, a good film, a good Bond film, but I feel that Casino Royale is still stronger. It seemed more consistent and even if it was aping off Bourne, it still felt like Bond.

Just saw Argo, it was pretty good. Affleck seems to be a competent director.

Watched "God Bless America". It is a damn good movie IMO. Also watched Madagascar 2 (found boring) and Monty Python and the Holy grail

Presumably because older batman films/cartoons/shows didn't live in an age where your average mook can start recording your voice with their smartphone, and you never 'hear' him in comics to begin with. The thing is, the batman voice isn't meant to sound serious, IMO (because I can't believe that there's a bubble around the film crew where nobody noticed, over 3 films, that the rest of the planet thinks it's a touch silly). It's just meant to sound as far away as you can get from Bruce Wayne as possible. There's only really 2 directions you can take with that, pitch-wise, up or down. And up might meet with a tad more mockery.

Between Batman and Bane, that film is a perfect example of how not to make your main characters sound so that what they say is actually followable.

I loved it as well and luckily I'm not that much in to Diablo to remember Cain's voice.

@Serenegoose, That's true I guess, with the exception of Rorschach which had wavy speech bubbles to indicate his tone and way of talking.

Anyways, Just watched Brave.

It was a bit different than expected but a very enjoyable movie nonetheless.

I just watched "Cocaine Cowboys" the documentary that inspired the devs of Hotline Miami (they said so on a video commentary). It's about (you guessed it) the colombian drug cartel in Miami in the early 80's. Pretty interesting stuff.
