The Room by Tommy Wiseau, which is a terrible terrible movie, but not as funny as Troll 2. It feels like a third of the movie is pointless sex scenes.
The room is hilariously bad, Troll 2 is just toe curling bad in every way possible. It's not even so bad it's funny.

I went to see Skyfall the other day and overall I quite liked it. It's definitely the best of the Craig Bond films, largely thanks to the brilliant supporting cast. Javier Bardem was visibly enjoying himself and stole every scene he appeared in, Judi Dench gave her best performance as M and Ben Whishaw did a great job as the new Q. I was really impressed by the cinematography as well, there were some clever uses of light and shadows, particularly throughout the finale. Best of all, I could actually tell what was going on in the opening scene this time around.
I would say however, that the film became considerably weaker once [spoiler]they entered Skyfall manor. I appreciate that they were trying to expand on James Bond's backstory and give a depper insight into his motivations, but I just don't think the character is compelling enough to make it work. Bond is caricature more so than an actual nuanced protagonist and trying to expand on that only highlights his flaws even more. And while watching Albert Finney is always a pleasure, the character of Kincade did feel somewhat superfluos, especially since the film already introduced a lot of characters that could have benefitted from more screen time.[/spoiler]
In general, I think this was the film's greatest flaw: it tried to do too much. There's enough material in Skyfall to create three stories. Concepts get introduced only to be dropped shortly afterwards and there's never enough time for a satisfactory conclusion. Additionally, the film seemed unsure whether it wants to be a traditional Bond adventure in the style of Goldfinger or a more modern spy thriller in the vein of the Bourne series. The results are scenes that work great on their own but don't fit together very well.
And while I generally like Daniel Craig as an actor, I still feel there's something off about his portrayal of Bond. He lacks the self-ironic edge that I feel the character needs. It didn't bother me too much in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, but it feels very noticeable here. Maybe it's just because this time he's up against an entire cast of actors who were all bringing their A-game to the table.
As I said, it's a good film overall. If you like James Bond I'd recommend it, but I can't say I'm particularly hyped for the next instalment.
I also rewatched Mulan. Still one of my favourite Disney films: great animation, great characters and great humour. Simply brilliant.
21 Jump Street was far funnier than it had any right to be. The little lady once again comes up strong in the movie department.

I watched that a good while ago (I think I posted about it in this thread somewhere) and enjoyed it too.
Just watched Saints and Soldiers: Airborne Creed (2012). Apparently a sequel to a 2003 movie and I gather it's sort of indie and low budget, but there's certainly nothing wrong with the props or effects. It's a pretty low key WWII movie and the plot is perhaps a little thin, but it's rather likeable. Good acting too, with Germans who sound German and French who sound French and such.

you're not kidding. who would've thought channing tatum could actually do comedy. kudos to him. reminds me of Ted. i though ol' marky mark was actually funny in that.
if anyone hasn't seen a movie called Fighting, check it out, especially if you like channing tatum. it's one of his first movie i believe and its really good.

Skyfall, yesterday. Solid at the start, a bit dragged on till Bardem shows up and steals the show, fantastic at the end. After Quantum of Solace, this is refreshing. But Casino Royale still sits on top of the list of my favourite Bond movies. Nevertheless, Skyfall's easily up there with it.
Well, I thought the film really picks up as soon as the reached the place. But, I say this movie's quite detached from the last two movies' plotline. It's probably resolved but I'm not so sure.

Just saw Brave last night have to say I was quite charmed and it was very sweet at the end but i do have to say there was a constant push and pull between the more slapstick and kiddish inside the castle stuff and the more atmospheric and sweet outside stuff woth the mother. Would of liked the more atmospheric stuff but there you go. Its not a bad film though.

Has anyone seen The Watch? that movie was not what i thought it was gonna be. the whole plot just took a crazy left turn didn't it? favorite quote "The only way to kill us is Severe Trauma to the Dick"...brilliant. all in all it was okay, not the best but certainly not the worst.

I haven't seen it, but Jake Gyllenhall's prep for the film was pretty intensive - he witnessed a murder on his first ride-along with the LAPD and trained with them for 5 months. I don't know if that affected the overall quality of the movie, but it's certainly interesting.

watched Pirates In An Adventure With Scientists. I have missed Aardman and this just shows how really good they are at what they do. The characters are lovely with a big cast of british actors in there. The main character of The Pirate Captain is a perfect comic foil of always wanting a pirate of the year award but never seeming to get it because well him and the rest of his pirates are a bit rubbish at actual piraty stuff. It has a weird portrayel of Charles Darwin as this kind of villainous and the butt of all the jokes. Some of the jokes are really how did they get away with that like the elephant man one and the fact that queen Victoria and her colonial people are eaters of rare animals and don't care about it. All in all very very enjoyable and quite British.
Oh, no, he's hilarious (and a damn good director) but I'd put Darkplace and The IT Crowd a few steps above America's Next R-Rated Comedy.
