Oh cool, mind if I join in with some bands/records I've been listening to lately? No? Good.

First, Portal, just because Portal has been held in such a high regard here, so logically most of you will also like this, yes?

Shining's newest is one of the best albums this year.

What else... Cynic is nice if you like some progressive stuff. Fun fact - Cynic disbanded after their classic first album "Focus" and most of the members formed a band also known as Portal, which should not be confused with the Portal mentioned before.

Well, one more. Obscura's latest is probably their best work so far.

Focus by Cynic is a genuine classic. Awesome stuff. Heard they were dreadful live when they toured a few years ago. What a shame.

Anyways, this week I have been mostly listening to 'Depressive' Black Metal.

It really is a given that in any metal thread there will be fans of Cynic. I suppose that Atheist and Nocturnus will shortly follow but until then here's some thrash bands that really know their shit. ALL SYSTEMS GO!

Just a heads-up for those that dug that Anacrusis song, you can find that album as well as the other ones that they did on the band's offical site. Quite generous of them.

Have you recorded anything yet? If it's anything like ColdWorld, it will be enjoyed by me!

I've been steadily loosing interest in metal over the last couple of years or so (even though I still play in a death metal band) and have gone back to hardcore. So have some of that.

Rolo Tomassi - Interesting ''progressive'' hardcore I guess. From sheffield.

The Dillenger Escape Plan - I know we all know who they are but many people wrote off Option Paralysis saying it wasn't true Dillinger. I think you should give it a listen.

Iwrestledabearonce - One of the dreaded 'cores but somehow good for it and with a sense of humour (I think Pazuzu was Professor Farnsworth's dragon thing he was also a Babylonian demon or something too....Pazuzuuuuuu!)

Converge - Another classic. This is also off their latest album, which some criticised as ''too approachable''. I fail to see how that is a bad thing.

    Botch - Because...Botch.

I've also been listening to Beecher, These Arms Are Snakes and Narrows, as well as others.

Also, LINK to my shit band.

Not quite metal but the closest I think I get really.

Minor Threat - In My Eyes

    and this

    Suicide Machines - DDT

    Very nostalgic!

Not totally metal either but come on, it's Repulsion, it's not up for debate.
