EDS essentially allows you to download your purchase again for up to two (2) years, in the event your computer crashes or the downloaded file becomes damaged or corrupt. It can be thought of as an insurance policy in case anything goes wrong with your computer or the downloaded product. When you have downloadable items in your order, you will see a link to add EDS to your order on the shopping cart page or the checkout page. Upon payment of the specified fee, Digital River, Inc. ("DR") agrees to provide you (the "End User") a service that enables the End User to make multiple downloads of digital computer software products (a "Product" or "Products") purchased in a single order (an "Order") and downloaded from this Web site (the "Site") for a period of two (2) years after the date the End User purchases the Product (the "Service"). Click here for full details about EDS.

Wait, does that mean that the old anti-Steam "You don't own the games, you're just renting them" argument is literally true for Ubisoft's service?
Btw, I love how they try to make it sound as if they're doing it as a favour to the customers.

Holy crap, that's... crap! I'll never buy from them again! Well, after AC3 I'll boycott them! Okay, probably not, but I sure as hell won't recommend their games to others! Or maybe I will, but I won't feel good about it!
That'll teach them!

There is a weekend GTA4 sale in gamersgate, with some strange pricing... The complete edition costs the same as tales from liberty city and includes TfLC and the main game.
It also seems like they don't want to go head to head with current GTA4 sale on steam (It's a bit more expensive).
Still considering getting it though (from GG. I prefer giving them my money), but I don't know if I'll ever have the time to play.
Edit: They fixed the pricing and it's now cheaper than steam (with IGN discount).
It's also on sale at GMG.

Something I wonder about that EDS, does it only affect my downloading the game, or if I manage to keep a copy tumbling through my hard drives that copy will be useless after 2 years?

It's only the downloading link that is lost.

Bioshock is free on GameFly. Their client is a requirement, and you also need to supply your personal data and CC number.
