Defcon is awesome. Mind you it's only for multi as single player skirmishes against the ai lack... spirit. It's a great way to lose friends.

To be honest, at the end of any game of Defcon, I think there's gonna be a lot of people without spirit...
...yeah.

I have to go and rob the bank tonight. There is no other way.
Is it odd that there are no mid-week specials on Steam this week? Does this presage a Thanksgiving Day sale?
(Do any of us need more games to play at the moment?)
((Will that stop us from buying more anyhow?))
According to NeoGAF (some post somewhere) there's going to be a Black Friday/Thanksgiving sale. So, you know, buckle up.
I hadn't bought any Introversion games yet, but had been keen to check out Uplink, Defcon and Darwinia, so this is perfect for me. BOUGHT'D.
I also pre-ordered the Indie Royale bundle because I haven't yet managed to destroy that compulsive part of my brain with alcohol.
weekendwarrio.rs - We've got more games than time...
Starcraft 2 download is $30 through monday on the Blizzard store (maybe USA only): http://us.blizzard.com/store/details.xml?id=1100001122
Anyone tried some of those space 4x games in the Matrix sale? Looking at Armada 2526 and Distant Worlds, but with the $30 price tag and no demo, I'm a bit hesitant to jump for it. Opinions from some veteran space 4x-ers who have played them would be helpful.
Edit: This ShowMeTheSales event has a couple of the Matrixgames titles for lower prices. Solium Infernum is also on there.

Sure!
Metro 2033 - $6.78
STALKER: SOC - $4.99

Saints' Row 2 - $5.08
Amnesia - $4.99
Grand Ages: Rome - $4.99
Elven Legacy Collection - $5.99
Penumbra Collection - $3.99
Many many games on GOG, but here's a starter mix:
Fallout 2 - $5.99
Independence War 2 - $5.99
Alpha Centauri - $5.99
Distant Worlds is something of a Europa Universalis game in space. It's slow, real time, and incredibly huge. It also has a ton of automated systems to simulate private industry and other aspects of your empire that you do not directly control. In general it's a hell of a game, and the expansion adds a ton of good stuff. It's getting another expansion this fall, btw, which is going to significantly enhance and expand the game and add a substantial character system as well.
I've not played a lot of Armada 2526, but it looks and sound intriguing. It's designed by the lead designer of some of the older TW games and seems to share a lot of their design philosophy. Turn based empire building, real time combat resolution, with a lot of novel ideas (psionic weapons, for one) thrown in that frequently don't crop up in 4X games. The expansion adds multiplayer (something Distant Worlds still lacks) and a pile of interesting additional features and systems.
Before you go off buying Serious Sam 3 on Steam for £30, it appears to be a steamworks title. Regardless, Amazon has it for retail at £21.50. It also includes Serious Sam: Double D.
