My infallible ant senses are telling me that all this TF2 going free business was just a ploy to lure more innocents into the claws of Steam and therefore the new summer sale will start some time next week, presumably on Monday.

GamersGate has the Just Cause games 75% off today, putting JC2 at £3.49 or $4.99

Okay, Daggerdale for a tenner, comes with free Baldurs Gate (1) complete. I'll be honest, I'm tempted. as I still haven't re-bought BG off Gog.
Buying games you aren't going to play is a waste of money (no matter how cheap they are). Forcing yourself to play games you wish you hadn't bought is a waste of time. Both are best avoided.
GTA: San Andreas is today's Steam daily. 75% off to £2.50.
As far as I'm aware, this is the most loved GTA?
It's the most successful. In my experience, people tend to favor Vice City.
Just Cause 2 is 5€ in GamersGate, in addition to other lesser currencies. The € is still going strong...
The UbiShop (apparently, that's a thing) has the Assassin's Creed bundle for $30 today only. How's the DRM on this? Is it that horrible despicable always-on variety?
Answered my own question. As best I can tell, AC2 still has the DRM of death, but Brotherhood did not include said DRM.
From what I've read they downgraded the DRM on AC2 to require a connection whenever you launch the game, but not all the time while you play it. Not much better if you don't have internet access all the time, but it should remove the issues with losing progress if your connection fluctuates.
so I said nothing much interested me in the gog sale but I was bored and they are very cheap, so I bought Shogo which is marvelous, I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for something from the sale.
Ooh. I actually bought that. I haven't played it yet, though.

Just be warned that you cannot play this right away if your "My Documents" folder is not in the default location. See here for a solution.
In amongst the usual rubbish Zavvi's 3 for £10 deal has some interesting older stuff. Most of it can be found cheap elsewhere but at just over £3 each plus the bonus of a shiny disc it might be worthwhile.

Seems Zavvi aren't the only ones with a sale. Game.co.uk has a 'clearance' sale on all platforms, but specifically highlighting some PC titles (of which there is a total of 146 on sale):
Dead Space - £3
Medal of Hono(u)r - Tier 1 (the one with the BF3 beta) - £10
Mass Effect 2 - £9
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit - £9
Crysis: Maximum Edition (includes Crysis, Crysis: Warhead and Crysis Wars multiplayer) - £5
Just Cause 2 - £5
Obviously there are some stinkers, but hey.
With regards to the summer sale (and whether there will be one), Men of War: Assault Squad has confirmed there will be one in its patch notes for the most recent patch (where it added support for upcoming DLC and the "summer sale" support).
Shrapnel Games have a sale, and one of the items is Dominions 3.

It's still 35$, but if you love or even just moderately like turn-based strategy games, there is no more excuse not to buy it.
I'll go out on a limb here and make a statement I usually don't make: Dominions 3 is the best and most in-depth turn-based fantasy strategy game there is on the market right now.
Also, I'm totally up for a round.
