I posted in tech help but am kinda considering grabbing this tonight and I'm asking if anyone knows anyone or themselves own or have tried one.

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/laptop/range/nspirepro2350

Looks badass, but Novatech laptop reliability has been patchy in the past, it's been hard to find consumer reviews. Anyone?

You realise the 399 price is with no operating system?
If graphics are not important why spend so much on a GPU?

Not seeing any EA stuff on sale on the UK site, aside from the ME2/3 guidebooks (does anyone even buy them? Have they not heard of the internet?)

I've fixed 100s of laptops and you want a laptop from a major manufacturer every time - because that's the only way you're going to be able to get

a - decent driver support/software support (esp with new OSes coming soon)
b - replacement parts (even if it's just a battery or a screen or a keyboard)

There are loads of companies that make laptops for other companies to 'brand' and so long as they end-up with a brand who have a proper website with downloadable drivers, a support database/forum and who sell a LOT of them (so spares are commonplace) it's not so bad (Dell used to do this, other brands like eMachines still do)

In this case tho, do you think Novatech will be supporting this laptop in 2 years time? Will you even be able to get a battery for it WHEN it dies in 12-18 months - do they even HAVE a support section (a quick look suggests not).

Even it's spec seems a bit odd - it has USB 3 sockets but a VGA output instead of HDMI - WOT!? Keyboard also looks nasty (and almost certainly hard to find a replacement for)

I'd move along if I were you - perhaps to the Dell Outlet which offers Inspiron 15Rs i3s with 525M GPUs for this sort of money - and i5 540s for a little more - you'll be able to get parts and drivers and stuff (and they even throw in Windows in most cases!!)

Question about Indie Gala bundle. Can I pay the $6.24 (or whatever the going average is?) after the secrets are revealed and still get them, or is it only for the people who paid during the first week.

Why would you do that? You don't save any money buying the bundle.

    ---

Single player wise, is the Retribution worth buying? How's the campaign in it?

Because he wants to do something nice for his friends? I think Retribution is pretty much multiplayer or bust.

When I looked on Dell they looked (slightly) pricier, my job has offered me one of their Win7 keys since I will be using it away for work and sticking some of their software on there. I reserved one for collection but I will shop around further again to check, grabbing that was stretching my budget of 350 but having the GPU in there kinda swayed me to get it.

No, but getting 2 giftable games for 2.50 is good.

And, yes retribution single player is substandard, playing as orks is funny enough to warrent trying it, but know this, the campaign is IDENTICAL for all sides, so there is no replay value.

I've got a copy of the DOWII base game to gift to anyone who wants it. Send me a PM with your steam user name and a good joke.

    Best joke wins.

    Edit:

Alternatively, any convincing sob story about how you're in hospital recovering from major surgery, or that you work at an orphanage where the kids go to bed crying because they can't play DOWII

Dealine extended - midday GMT Saturday 30th June

Well then, don't buy the bundle. Buy the gifts and the one you want to keep separately.

Yeah, might have to do that, but saving money is nice.
