Even if it is more than a month away, he'll get his beta access to a game he wants to play and then he'll get the game he wants after it?
It's not like it's going to get a better price on steam between now and release

i'm saying that the game is rather shit and i'd reconsider spending money on it.

Does it control the same way as M&B does?

All of Total Biscuit's gameplay videos (and gushing) sounds like "It is the M&B combat system". So that kind of gets me happy. Mostly it looks like there are still a few bugs and none of the leveling or stats system has been worked in.
But Spider, how much more can you tell us? If there isn't an NDA, what are your issues with it? Because i know a LOT of people who would argue M&B is also not fit for a release. Let alone 3 :pSteam: Gundato
If you want me on either service, I suggest PMing me here first to let me know who you are.

Their is an NDA which he's breaking by discussing the game here. (I've also been in the alpha & beta).
Edit: Bargin spotted, Amazon have War of the Roses for $27 ($3 cheaper than steam in my area), And if you bought the pint-sized-paradox pack I think they're giving you an extra $6 off. (I got an email that was talking about me buying mount and blade, but the order number refered to the pint-sized paradox pack, so it might just be a mistake.)

as is, it's a grindy unlockfest. the game progressed tremendously from alpha to beta, but the unlock system is the worst of the worst at the moment, with all the useful and/or overpowered abilities at the top (and waaaay at the top). maybe they'll change it, maybe they won't, but at the moment, it takes a very large time investment to be able to play the game with any sort of options open to you.
also if their nda doesn't apply to totalbiscuit giving them good press, i'm going to ignore it as well in the interest of sharing a dissenting opinion.
perhaps that makes me a dick, but given paradox's history (and fatshark's history), i'd caution people who think they're getting a highly polished, fine tuned mp game on release date.
i fancy myself a decent crpg player (the m&b mod that is, not the genre) and i was able to do fairly well as a level nothing, but eventually you'll run up against two or three lvl 40s or so and they'll just simply have things that you can't counter. even in crpg, as a lvl 1 with a wooden sword, if i could block well enough, i could survive. in wotr (at the moment), even if i perfectly blocked someone for ages, they could just use an ability to stun me and then have their brutal way with me.
it might be what some people want, and what some people like, but as someone who came to wotr looking for an extension of mount and blade, it wasn't there for me. i'm not saying don't buy the game (or maybe i did), but i'm saying there are real problems with it aligning with m&b, and they seem to be fundamental design decisions that are locked in at this point.

I understand your complaints, and I have similar thoughts, but my understanding is that the developers will be rebalancing the unlocks shortly. I think it's unrealistic to expect battlefield quality from them (their's only 6 people on the development team), But I'm sure it'll run fine and be balanced on release.
And the amount of progress they made between alpha and beta is what's got me hopeful the game will release ok, if however it gets to a week before release and their still appears to be major issues then I'll feel differently. I can't comment on the difference between Mount and Blade and WoTR, as I havn't played Mount and Blade.

Could we have another thread for the suggesting of games which are still in beta or otherwise not-officially-released, whether or no they desire our money, and keep this thread for the games which have been available for some time but are now cheap?

Daily deal for Spacechem, -75% off. I'd ask "Is there anyone left who hasn't bought this yet?" but I know that most of the times that question gets asked, I can answer "Yes, me." Suffice it to say, this is a good game.

Yes, sometimes a game should just get out of the way and let you have fun. This is not one of those times.
