    It's a lie.

It's not bad, but for a lot of people it was their first JRPG (first big JRPG hit on the PS1), which means that people go around wearing nostalgia goggles the size of Mt. Kilimanjaro whenever they talk about it.

There are better old examples of the genre, but pretty much all of them would require emulation.

There is a mod that should fix a lot of things with it and, apparently, makes it into the game it should have been, but I don't remember what it's called. Maybe someone else does.

Is KOTOR 1 necessary to follow the plot of KOTOR 2?

It's the called the restoration mod.

The plot from Kotor 2 is it's own entity, but it's sto quite heavily tied into the lore of the first game and I would recommend at least knowing the plot of 1, but playing it is best as lots are characters are referenced.

Since Magicka is currently on sale - is it fun in singleplayer?
    - If the sound of Samuel Barber's "Adagio For Strings" makes you think of Kharak burning instead of the Vietnamese jungle, most of your youth happened during the 90s. -

    I'd say no, it isn't.

    a) Most of (if not all) the fun comes from accidental (or accidental) team kills and b) the game is horribly balanced and you'll probably have a hard time beating some of the later chapters on your own.

I gave up by Chapter 3 to be honest. (playing Single Player that is!)

Both Neverwinter Nights and all expansions are €12.50 on Gamersgate. However, DRM is listed as "Other DRM" and it won't work on 64-bit OS. Does anyone know where else I might get a hold of a digital copy of NWN 2? Neither Steam nor GOG has it.

    EDIT: For those interested,

EDIT 2: That's the Swedish GG site, but the info is in English.

Yes, but it can become frustrating and it's quite challenging. Don't even try to play the stars are left by yourself, though.
    Of course, coop is better.

84% of the fun of Magicka is killing your friends. 14% is trying out spells, and the other 2% is actually playing it.

My favorite is killing my mates using the ARSE spell in the form of mines.

I wish I could play it with some of my friends, but I fear they can't be ARSEd.

Both mine work on Win7 64bit. I had bought NWN2 and all its goodies from Direct2Drive back in the day. I think that the rights are in a big bag of fucked up right now and it can't really be found very many places.

I just realized that, with the Amazon $5 credit and a gift card I have, I can essentially get Dark Souls for $12 in Amazon credit (and 0 real money).

This leaves me with a conundrum. On the one hand, I'm intrigued by the thing. The hype is hard to totally ignore, and some aspects of the design sound intriguing. On the other hand, forced multiplayer gives me hives, and I don't think of myself as especially good at action games so the difficulty is potentially really offputting (challenge good, frustration bad, but twitch challenge rapidly becomes frustration for me). I'd really rather not add yet another game to the "to play" pile if it's not something I'm going to really enjoy, and more than just about any game in recent memory I have no sense of whether this is something I'd love (a rich, somewhat tactical action RPG with an expansive world and a great combat system) or something I'd shelve after 20 minutes and never touch again (a forced MP, frustratingly hard twitch action game with infinite respawn and insufficient checkpoints).

The MP isn't really forced. If it's such an issue, you can just stay hollow the whole game. You'll still be able to see ghosts, bloodstains and messages, but you will not be invaded, nor will you be able to summon someone to help you.
