I couldn't give less of a crap about the terribad campaign, I want to try the contracts mode. It sounds like a good time.

Anyone seen any offers for Dark Souls and BF3 lately?

Oh, and that also provides a 30 % off coupon on the DLC, I think.

Oh 2, it has just begun. It's also 15 on Gamefly.

Oh the Third, I'll add links:

Hell-oh again, it's 11.99 before coupon on GMG, 9.59 after.
Danke kindly, I bought it here.

I got Beyond Good And Evil on GMG for €1 exactly. That coupon (mentioned above) knocked 23 cents off the price. I almost feel guilty. I wonder if they actually covered the transaction costs.

So... I guess GMG does not give you Steam keys?

For Steamworks/Steam exclusive games it does - otherwise no.

Civ V Gold (includes Gods and Kings) is 75% off on Steam today ($12.49). Is this all the DLC up to this point then?

nevermind, I misread Gold for GOTY.

Umm, I think in this case Gold is better than that rare element called Goty.

It includes all the DLC on Steam, anyways. If you already have the game and just want the DLC you can get all that for $5 with the "Gold Edition Upgrade" which is an idea that more games need to pick up. Not that expecting your consumers to buy $45 in DLC for a game they spent $30 on is at all ridiculous, Bethesda.

I agree a catch-all for people with the basic game once the DLC sales have dropped-off would be a great idea.

or - if you're Criterion and want to fuck your PC customers by not offering all the DLC you give to console owners and then discontinuing the DLC you were offering completely, you could just give it away for free - that way people won't hate you for years thereafter...

I played Civ II a bit but it never clicked

I played Civ III a bit more but it still didn't really click

I played Civ IV less than the above 2 for reasons I can't easily explain

In all those cases I just found all the initial creation of units and exploring utterly and totally boring, random and tiresome

I guess I don't need to try Civ V do I - or by some miracle is there a mode which hand-holds you a bit further and gives you a bit more direction early one?

I went to read some 'getting started' guides earlier and they all put me to sleep to I'm guessing not? :)

I'd say Civ 5 has the lowest entry barrier of all of the main games, however, if you can manage to find a copy of Civilization Revolution for the consoletoys, it's a watered down and much simpler version of the game, which easily serves to initiate people into the big boys. Think of it as "My first Civ".

This might be of interest to people with console toys or who don't mind waiting for delivery of actual discs for pc games.

wowhd.com are offering 20% off all games all month. wowhd tend to be cheaper than digital distros on new games, the trade off is you've to wait. But I know when it comes to myself I can wait the extra week for Tomb Raider if I'm getting it for €27 instead of €50 or €40.
