I wouldn't risk it to be honest. Not if you have a few games on Origin anyway.
If graphics are not important why spend so much on a GPU?

Yeah, I've got a handful, and that confirms my gut feeling. Thanks!

As an aside, what happens if I genuinely went to the US and bought some games while I was there? Bannage? Or would they see the IP I used to buy the stuff from and be ok with it? Or is this one of those grey areas?

My Steam and PS3 accounts were region locked to the UK when I first moved here. My games still worked but I couldn't buy a darned thing. Had to ask customer service to switch them over for me.

I didn't have an Origin account but I bet they do something similar.

AFAIK, Steam accounts never have been locked to a specific region. I know at least half a dozen people who used VPN services regularly to circumvent region restrictions (a simple IP check).

I think the problem was my billing address was stuck on UK, and it wouldn't let me change the country. I could see the US store but the checkout would fail when I tried to buy anything.

A VPN does work for unlocking games early that you bought from the UK store.

And they are doing Daily Deals.

D&D bundle 80% off. This shows up 2-4 times a year for this set. Great deal for those looking to get Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape:Torment, etc.

Alan Wake is 90% off Daily Deal.

GOG is also giving away Warsow. I'd never heard of it before; it looks like a cartoonish Quake/Unreal and was originally released last year.
The Medallion of the Imperial Psychopath, a Napoleon: Total War AAR
For the Emperor!, a Total War: Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai AAR

Well, 'giving away' since it was already free.

Buy Undying. It's better than the Bioshocks.

I honestly don't know. On the one hand I love good strategy games but, on the other, I don't really want to play multiplayer. Is the single player actually good or is it just a training ground for multiplayer?

Just like civilization or alpha centuri it's hugely better with real mans, but it's still very much one more turn.
I'm failing to writing a blog, specifically about playing games the wrong way

Thanks for the response. I think I will pick it up for that price as it's difficult to see how I can go wrong even if I don't get much out of it.

I play it single-player only, and have had a lot of fun with it. Actually I think I would like it less playing multiplayer; in single-player you can just have loads of fun with all the crazy toys.

For single-player I recommend a mod that increases the resource costs of all the "trash" neutral units so the AI never builds them, this makes the AI much more fun to play against because it doesn't waste all its resources on crap units.
Irrelevant on further examination of the rest of the thread.

Does the AI ever use its mages in a remotely sensible way?

Gamefly is running a digital download sale. Use code GFDJUN20 for a further 20% off. Some notables, lifted from Slickdeals:

    • Medieval II: Total War $3
    • Alpha Protocol $3
    • Empire: Total War $3
    • Renegade Ops $3
    • Napoleon: Total War $3
    • Condemned: Criminal Origins $3.50

Witcher 2 is $5.99 on GOG's summer sale, arguably one of the best RPG's of recent years and for the amount of content you get and supporting a DRM free developer, this is an amazing deal.

There are also other interesting games in today's GOG daily deal.

Is there some kind of upcoming patch for Witcher 2? I heard there is.
