Laptop Schmaptop. I need buying advice.

Hello wonderful RPS forum community I'm looking for some advice on getting a decent laptop for my delightful girlfriend. She doesn't need anything fancy because it's just for uni work and internet use. She doesn't need to play games on it because she has my beast of a rig to do that. So any ideas? 400 is probably about as much as I'm willing to spend but if youse see anything amazing then feel free to show me.

    I've already seen this

    It seems ok right?

forget the i3 laptops, for 400 you can get one of the AMD Llano equipped notebooks which are actually capable gaming machines. just make sure its at least the A8.

Check out the new Ultrabook-spec laptops that're coming online. Mind you if you can it's probably worth holding on till the second generation machines next year: Ivy Bridge (better GPU performance, lower power consumption) plus the OEMs will have learnt some lessons from their first efforts. And Windows 8 ofc.

Or you could just check out Anandtech's Holiday 2011 Laptop Buying Guide.

Thanks a lot folks this will certainly help me have more of an idea of what is good and what is guff. Can't seem to find any AMD Llano A8 netbooks though they do sound good. Any good uk websites to reccomend that aren't overclockers or ebuyer?
