    Tips for the GOG sale

Anyone have any recommendations for the GOG sale? I thought we might have a seperate thread from the usual "bargains" one, as the steam deals always seem to get one :)

    My tips would be...
    The Last Express (5.99)
    Outcast (5.99)

Hopefully they'll both be 50% off. Also, does anyone know a game similar to "The Last Express"?

Sacrifice, an rts with a funny and haunting story, an easy to learn mmo interface with optional gestures and hotkeys, beautiful art, epic music, charming voice work, brutal violence, great tactical framework. This is the real deal.

They're saying "virtually entire catalog" will be -50%, so likely.

Is Alpha Centauri a good entry point for Civ-a-likes?
Give me steam and how you feel to make it real.

I've heard good things, but it doesn't come with the expansion. For roughly the same price you can get a complete edition in the UK (released by Mastertronic) so that may be a better buy.

I'll be waiting till the Little Big Adventure games are on sale where I'll finally be able to play the first one and also finally, finally have a working copy again of one of my favourite childhood games (in fact favourite games full stop). Can't wait to revel once again in its brilliance.

Alpha Centuri is a good starting and ending, alpha and omega style.
Play it multiplayer with rps :D

I'd definitely argue that SMAC and Civ 4 are really all you need as far as Civ games.

Civ 4 for the mods certainly.

Back to gog, Neverwinter Nights (but skip to the first expansion) is an awesome and we'll rounded Action RPG, it's an interesting cross section of biowares origins and biowares later work.

I modified your statement to say something different to what you originally said! I hope that was OK. Forgive me if not, I do apologise.

I'm going to pick up BG2, again, if it's on sale. Will probably get it if it isn't... been meaning to for a couple months now, and was all set to grab it last Tuesday, just as I read about the sale coming up. I own it on DVD (the whole BG Saga), but really want to start playing it on my new Netbook, which lacks a DVD drive. For $5-6 I'm happy to pay out for it again, rather than go through making images of my DVDs and transferring them to the Netbook, or setting up a network DVD drive or whatever. I'm somewhat lazy these days, when I can just do something conveniently, and have plenty other gaming distractions.

But yeah, if you haven't played BG2, I, and many, many others, would highly recommend you do. It's timeless, so please don't worry about that... It might not have the graphical WOW! of modern games, but it still passes muster with looks. I think enough has been said about the gameplay and all the rest of it, that I don't really need to add anything. Truly epic, wonderful game.

Heresy! Everyone knows that Call to Power II is the best Civ game.

Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. Neverwinter Nights complete. Planescape Torment. The Icewind Dale games don't have much of a story to speak of but they're excellent dungeon-crawly games nevertheless.

Myself, I'll probably be picking up Ultima 7.

Gabriel Knights, Fahrenheit, Rollercoaster Tycoons, Broken Swords, Scratches, Age of Wonders and Jagged Alliance II. All that I can come up right now, and am going to pick up. :P

It's nice to see that all of you already have the essential CRPGs available on GOG.

Giants: Citizen Kabuto. One of my all time favourites, that one.

I remember having so much fun with outcast.
    But that was ages ago.
I wonder if I played it again if I would wonder why I liked it so much, or if it really was so great

It still plays as amazingly as it always did. A truly special game. Of course, I'm biased saying this as in my books it's one of the very greatest games ever made, but all the things that made it great back are still in full force today (except perhaps the graphics).

    My picks

Jagged Alliance 2 plus latest 1.13 patch
    http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board...927#Post273927

Space rangers 2 dominators (actually steam version would be better cause it includes expansion -- "reboot"), never understand why this game is overlooked and underplayed

    Fallout 2 + RP mod
    http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/vie...73a576fc9ed2fb

    Stronghold crusader

    and outcast

Arcanum plus unofficial & hires patches
    http://www.terra-arcanum.com/downloads/

Alpha centauri is one of the very best games but where's the expansion as others said

Tropico reloaded would be a lot of entertainment for $6

Dungeon keeper 2 if you have XP or below, don't attempt with windows 7 or vista

Wrong game there. The VtM game on GOG is Redemption, you've linked to the patch for Bloodlines.
