New raffle thing gist: get specific game/community achievements (much like in the summer), get either gifts or coal as rewards. Gifts can be games or vouchers, 7 coals can be turned into a gift. However, each lump of goal is also an entry for the grand giveaway.

When is Valve ever going to not have such a rocky start at the beginning of these sales?

My personal recommendation would be the third Sam & Max season, The Devil's Playhouse. The first two seasons were fun, but also flawed. The third one however seriously ups the ante. It's got great puzzles, great storylines, hilarious humour, amazing character development between the two heroes and some honest-to-god genuinely touching moments (I felt like shedding a manly tear at the very end). Very, very great.

Oh good gods. The Uber Grand Prize is "Every Single Game On Steam" - I seriously hope I am not going to win this, because otherwise, I shall never see the light of day again.

No, there's individual game deals daily as well. And if there's a franchise/series sale, it means all the games in that series are lowered in price.

Some good deals today. Amnesia is nice if you like horror themed games and haven't picked it up in an earlier sale yet for whatever reason. Just Cause 2 is a great sandbox game. A bit on the repetitive side, but it's got enough eye candy and over-the-top action moments to keep you occupied for quite some time. And Portal 2 is an absolute steal at that price.
In a way I almost dread the upcoming days. I just know I won't be able to resist the cheap prices, even though I already own too many games as it is. Hell, I still have games from the last Christmas sale I've never actually finished.

Yeah I know about the daily deals, but last year I got Toki Tori for 74p I think it was, and that was that price for the whole sale, it wasn't part of a daily or pack... Just looked again and it seems it is on sale now, guess the site is just acting up lol Looks like the price has gone up as well, I blame Greece! lol

Not quite the same situation though; They might've gotten a lot of online players during those days, but right now, it's not just millions of players at the same time; It's millions of people online at the same time specifically hammering the store web with the force of a thousand suns... and then some more.

Which is quite understandable as I don't own Portal 2 :P

I managed to get a -25% off voucher for any Valve published game, useable after the sales (and not valid on games released after 2nd Jan). Which is kinda really useless to me.
