Q.U.B.E. - still not on Steam

because of this (from their Facebook page):

"Just to let everyone know, the Steam release is going to be delayed until the beginning of January. This was recommended by Valve because QUBE will get more exposure once the Christmas sales are over. Thank you for being patient. We are also planning Steam exclusive DLC."

More exposure AFTER the Christmas sale? How will this work?
Steam exclusive DLC? I'm a bit sad for the people who bought the game from Desura or Gamersgate.

Steam exclusive DLC is rather poo.

But unless they release the game with a massive price cut (to match the sales) they will get swamped. I wouldn't be suprised if they wanted to make as much money at the full whack before cutting the price - hence the January release.

    Steam exclusive DLC
Hngh, why would you do that?

Also, on unrelated note, anyone know if the Psychonauts update ever hit retail and/or GOG-versions of the game?

I'd assume it's because the sales will be filled with loads and loads of games people will focus on, either because of big titles getting cheap prices or because of the special attention some get with the tie-in achievements for the grand prize thing. A new release might easily get buried under all that ruckus, and thus they probably reckon it's best that when it arrives it's the only thing getting some spotlight action.
Give me steam and how you feel to make it real.

Mutually beneficial deal between the Developers and Valve/Steam... The Developers get their game, with an exclusive piece of DLC, on to Steam, and get significant exposure from Valve/Steam advertising, Steam update news, place on the Store page etc.

Valve/Steam get a product, with something exclusive, something only available in the version they distribute, something unique, that they can sell to people.

Makes a fair bit of business sense.

And what about those who have bought it already from Gamersgate or Desura? Do they have to buy the game again from Steam just to be able to buy the DLC? Seems like piss-poor strategy to have relations with your customers.

What everyone else said. There has been some unsound business practices involving releasing games in October in a buggy state to cash in into the christmas sales. Even though releasing the same game in February might do the game more good, especially when it is an unknown entity.
