Eve Online: RPS Holdings is looking for new pilots

Rock Paper Shotgun Holdings is an Eve Online Corp (similar to a guild in other MMO’s) that is based out of this community. We were formed from a core group of guys from StateCorp in which one of the writers of RPS was the CEO. You can read about StateCorps history in the following article as well as about Eve in general:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
    <o></o>

    <o></o>
Eve is not like other MMO’s. It’s a big open sand box and there are a lot of ways to play the game. RPS Holdings is a PvP focused corp. We do other things such as worm hole exploration, missions, and incursions to make ISK (in game money) but that is all spent on replacing ships to be blown up. Too many new players to the game shy away from PvP thinking they don’t have the skills to hang with the older players and get bored with monotonous PvE only to leave the game. This is not the case. After a few days of going through tutorials and getting the basics of the game down you can serve a vital role in PvP. RPS Holdings specializes in getting newbies into the game and PvPing right away. We’ll get you blowing up ships, and getting yourself blown up in no time. <o></o>
    <o></o>
Your first role in combat will be that of a tackling frigate. Small cheap ships that “tackle” an enemies larger ships so they don’t escape letting the older guys pound on him with the big guns. In fact we missed out on a few kills the other night because we didn’t have any specialized tacklers and the enemies simply warped away from us. We need you new guys.<o></o>
    <o></o>
Here’s another few articles focusing on the new player experience in RPS Holdings:<o></o>

Currently you can sign up for a free 14 day trial on Eve’s website, or you can get a free 21 day trial if you get an invite from a current player. If you subscribe from the 21 day trial the inviter gets a nice sum of ISK that is generally split between both players. So ask for an invite here if you’re interested! <o></o>

In game my character is named “Kaahz” and our directors and CEO are listed below. We also hang out in the public channel “RPS Community” in game. Also just post here and myself and the guys will answer any questions. Looking forward to hearing from some new recruits. <o></o>

    Jaxdon - US Timezone director

    Hey Kaahz,

I've been messing about in EVE for about 6 months or so, mostly running missions in empire, and I'm struggling to get into pvp. I'm in rvb at the moment, doing a terrible job of it. I really want to get out of empire and into null, which has always been sort of an idea since reading 'The Five Year Spree'. The only thing is that I live in Australia, so my tz is a bit out of sync with eu and us. I can say however, that I like the small fast ships and would be keen on learning a trade in frigates. I'd like to join, but I'm not sure how my timezone would effect things.

    Cheers

    Hello Voltek!

Just throw in an application. I doubt anyone will mind having an Aussie in the corp! The only issue I can see (having no knowledge of how your active hours will mesh with the rest of the corp's and alliance's) is that it might be difficult to join the scheduled ops since they tend to be on EU and US tz evenings.

Anyways, I hope to see you in the corp!

RPSH was created specifically to send day one noobs into PvP. If you doubt this, ask Major Goose or Dr Pockets or Captain Beardface or anyone else who was in this fight as a 2009 character.

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT SKILLS. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY. WE CAN MAKE YOU BETTER HARDER FASTER STRONGER. WE WILL REBUILD YOU.

Just join RPSH cos they're fucking awesome.

    aar from larst friday roam
so friday night i start forming the gang at 19:00 and there a bit of a lone turn out so decided to give it 30 mins for people to log in
at the time of leaving we end up with a gang 2 scimis (wallander and pyea) 2 auto canes (gang was to small for arty canes) 2 ranise and me in a lachesis picked up a drake after the first fight aswell.

just as we r leving we get intel in alliance of 3 bs on asabona gate in irshah. i had got our +1 scout heading to doril so i warp the gang -1 ranis to irshah gate and i jump through and burn back to the gate and to my surprise the aggresse . get every one to jump and put the dps on to apoc who is still shooting me the domi imidatly deagros and make his escape before a member of our newest corp junkyard doggs could land on the othe side . the apoc pops and we loot the wreak . now u r proberly wondering wear the 3 rd bs is well he warped in late and jumped straight through into asabona how ever we had frendly bs on the other side who tackled him so he burnt back to the gate and jumped through in to those of us still waiting on the other side. http://eve-auctorita.com/killboard/?a=k ... ll_id=1602

next was up was trying to find a place to get into 0.0 while avoiding a shadow wolves blob which was loitering near sendya . in the end seeing as most of us could high sec travel and the fact that the police have hard time catching bcs we headed to great wildland which was dead. from hear we ended up moving to curse not seeing much till we hit hlw. after a little bit of bouncing around i got bobhound to warp to the our out gate but to bounce of a planet first. he landed on the gate when a cyn got dragge into the pull bubble. i order bob to tackle and everyone else to jump and warp to the out hoping the pull bubble well pull us ontop of the cyn so we can stop bob from drying . the pull bubles dindn't pull us but our other ranise was there to hold tackle and the scimis saved bob. http://eve-auctorita.com/killboard/?a=k ... ll_id=1610

rest of the trip back to asabona was fairly quiet we ganked a myrm which tried to slow boat back to doril gatr in jorund and then aggressed me while we had to scimis on the field

was a good evening roam with a good gang composition would of liked another member in a rapier but its getting there

EVE! It's a game YOU want to play!

  8. #8
Funnily enough I was going to start playing EVE again tonight, but Lulzsec had other ideas. I might have to look up fellow RPSers when I'm on, seeing as everyone is so bloody reasonable around here. It's like you have basic civility or something.

Most of us have basic civility to at least 3. Very few of us have trained it all the way to 5, which is the prerequisite for advanced civility. Tech 2 compliments are super effective, though.

Mind you Smuggo, some have trolling trained up to V as well. Particularly in RPSH where Spock porn is a frequent occurrence.

Edit: Look us up measurements! Find Mr. Doc Neil and perser him all you want!

I have heard alot over the years about EVE. I´m now interessing in this game, espacially when I read that you PROs think it is even worth for beginners. :-)

I have now created an account yet.

    So, what to do now...?

    Hey Demokrator!

First of all you should finish the tutorials the game throws at you, atleast the more combat oriented ones. This will get you some experience of how things work in the game, as well as some free ships and other assets. After that you might want to do the Sisters of Eve epic arc which is a "questline" that will net you a nice amount of cash once you've finished it. By this time you should also have been hanging out in the RPS Community chatroom which you join by opening the channel room prompt and typing that in. Once there you can just make yourself known to those who are hanging out there and eventually either Doc Neil, Jaxdon or Rogue Cheetah (our leadership trifecta) will do a brief interview with you and then you're in! (The interview is basically a safety procedure to make sure you're not a spy, but since you're a member of this forum you're basically fast-tracked into the corp).

Fly safe, and see you in game soon o/

Ah, yes. Download it and install it just like any other game. If you want to I can send a special buddy invite to your email which will give you a 21-day trial instead, and if you decide to subscribe after that's finished we'll both get ~200m space dollars each, enough to get quite a lot of ships blown up

    Hi guys.

Is your recruitment drive restricted to long-time forum contributors, or is it open to long-time rps readers/forum lurkers too?

    If so, I'm interested.

I already started a 14-day trial yesterday and have been pottering about getting back into the game (used to play a few years ago, but nothing too deep, just casual trade and missioning. Got bored of pure carebearing and quit), but if you're still looking for noobies to mould in your image, it'd be cool if any of your folks have a buddy invite. May as well help one of you out with an invite bonus if I'm coming back anyway.

If only I could find the money to get back to this, I was really interested in the direction RPSH was going...

The Perpetuum trial made me long for EVE again, so I've reactivated (robots are nice and all, but nothing beats being in spaaaaace). Getting into PvP sounds great, as in my previous lives in EVE I was of those:

...new players to the game shy away from PvP thinking they don’t have the skills to hang with the older players and get bored with monotonous PvE only to leave the game.
So if you're still recruiting, I'd love to get in. If you have use for someone with rather random (EU aligned) play times. I'll look you up in game later today

Hey Ezhar! We never close recruitment, and turning an ex carebear into a mindless killing machine is what gives us the greatest pleasure. See you in RPS Community channel!

Egg! You can always rob an old lady and resub! That's basically what we do in space anyway!

Glad to see some people interested in joining either way. For all you other people this is a great opportunity for you to jump on the bandwagon. It's always best to start EVE out with a bunch of rookies with as little clue as you do. Then when you several months look back at your career like Archer and me did a few days ago, you feel space pride. That's right, space pride.

    Come one come all!
