well yea google translate isn't the most reliable translating tool :D
But to be honest about that military installation thing, I mean how much could be there? because comparing google earth pictures and BI released Lemnos map .. BI pretty much made up all these bases, because in real life they look like small villages and the only airport looks like an International airport. And sure some of the smaller villages like Katalakko look blurred, but then again A lot of the villages in Latvia are blurred also and that doesn't mean that they are military or anything.
P.S Google really did have trouble with the military? because to me every base I search is not blurred, and those are places like Camp Pendleton or Khandahar Airfield
-
I thought Google maps had to blur out sensitive areas around the world. I never tried to search for them on it though.
I don't know how much there actually is, I tend to avoid anything to do with the military. The thing is, even if there is only one gun-rack on the whole island, they will press charges regardless of what the 2 guys claim. Because it's the army and it has to go like this! Stupid but true.
-
The "funny thing" in all that is that's happening on a demilitarized island.

First of all I am interested in joining in on the Tactical Tuesday matches, but I have two quick questions. First, do I have to play for the entire time? For example if I only have time for two mission would that be okay? I do not intend to leave mid-mission, but I want to make sure I am allowed to leave if necessary.
Second, I read something about specialist squads...what are those exactly? Does that mean anti vehicle squads? Sniper squads? Etc.
Bonus question, if I have never played anything other than a few single player missions and Day Z can I join in?
-
You can join for one mission, the first and third missions or all the missions. It's all up to you :)
Yupp. You've got Medium and Heavy MachineGun, Anti-Tank, Sniper/spotter, Drivers/Pilots, Engineers, Vehicles...
Ofc!
-
^ Thanks I really appreciate the info. I think I will simply stick to the grunt role until I am comfortable...then maybe move up to spotter (I enjoy that role). :)
-
There's no such thing as quitting, soldier!
Well, there's Ebass.
Though just to clarify things, spotter's not a role you're likely to play every week. Mostly cause we rarely play with the sniper/spotter team. But do not hesitate to join, i'm sure you'll enjoy!

Thanks, I guess you guys cycle through a whole bunch of missions then? How exactly does the setup process work normally? I understand mumble and I set myself up so I can join the different channels, but I am not sure which one to join once I join the server.
-
If the session starts at 20:30 you should be on Mumble (and the server IMO) at (the latest) 20:25.
Mumble room is Games / ArmA CC whisper blocker / ArmA2 CO.
The host greets everyone welcome and loads up the mission which brings everyone to the "Slotting Screen".
There you (double?)click on your nick in the middle window and keep Mumble clear so the host can get on with the slotting.
The host will generally ask for a Commanding Officer(CO) first and then Squad Leaders(SL) and Fire Team Leaders(FTL) followed by special slots and stuff like that.
If you've got questions or just want to talk, write it in the chat.
Once the mission starts(or on the mapscreen depending on CO) the Squads will be assigned a Mumble channel/room, ie "Alpha to Alpha, Bravo and MMG to Bravo, Charlie and Pilots to Charlie, CO Medic and Mortar to HQ".
If you can't alt+tab and move yourself just ask to be moved and one of us with "move-rights" will do it for you.

Thanks a ton, I will keep all of that in mind when I begin (I didn't want to slow everyone else down). :)

No worries, just remember to ask if you've got a question.

Guys, check this out:
I found that on the Bohemia twitter.
It's really well done considering how the ARMA engine limits what you can actually do.

ARMA2 Combined Ops is on Steam for -50% again, if you have any friends who have shown interest, let 'em know!
And then shanghai them into Tactical Tuesday and Folk Sunday. It's for their own good.

Those of you who are into recording gameplay footage may be interested to know that MSI Afterburner 2.3.0 is out, bringing a lot of new features, including multi-source audio recording. You should now be able to record both game audio and your mic with Afterburner. You can see the full list of changes here, along with a download link.

Arma2:CO is on sale at GOG for $14.99 (£9.29/€11.37)
http://www.gog.com/gamecard/arma_2_combined_operations
Thats a pretty good price if you know any fencesitters. Probably the best price they will see, at least while A2 is relevant. While there is no word on the dayZ standalone, it can't be long - as for Arma3 itself, there is a pre-announcement of an announcement posted up on the BIS site today:
The new release window of Arma 3 has been set for 2013. Joris-Jan van 't Land: "I hope this update provides some answers regarding the status of the project. We’re currently sorting the specifics so we can deliver a more complete announcement at the beginning of next year."
