ACRE

We would like to introduce to you the ACRE mod, in production by various members of the A2 community. The ACRE mod links ArmA2 and Teamspeak3 to create a more immersive environment in which we play in, including positional audio, real radio communications and complete compatibility with the ACE2 ArmA2 project.We intend to create the most realistic and immersive radio system within the current gaming world; based off of real life experience and knowledge, as well as the use of physical terrain obscuration, radio loss, distortion, and all other considers a real radio operator must make on a daily basis.

Being an semi-advocate for ACE (and recently ACRE), I approve.

ACE it's fun but different. Usually, it's more of a hassle getting stuff done in-game compared to non-ACE and accompanying the large addition of functions and "stuff", a rather steep learning curve. We, and by we I mean a chosen - very - few, play privately and/or on other public ACE servers from time to time. Though this is NOT a part of the ARPS experience, if you feel you want to try it out I'll gladly be of service for the showing of the ropes (as I and we know them).

As a participant in the semi-occasional ACE/ACRE experiments, my view is that it adds a lot of cool stuff but its flakiness and fiddliness mean it's not really fit for general consumption.

I particularly like ACRE. When it's working properly it really gives a cool feel.

I propose we do a "Mod Saturday", where we try out different mods like ACE or I44, and a custom island. Planning these events in advance should give everyone time to set up everything.

If you want to go down the ace/acre route I recommend using Six Updater to ensure everyone is packing the right mods and map packs: -

Each to their own but it worked fine for us. Initially it takes a little time to set up, but after that you just run once a week and voila all your mods up to date.

It is, version 1.13 is the last stable for OA.

At the risk of sounding like a slightly late echo, I agree with the sentiment that ACE is somewhat interesting but really a bit of a faff due to all the stuff it implements (particularly for someone who has rebound most of the ARMA keys).

ACRE, on the other hand, is seriously cool. It feels like comms done right, and it's a shame we wont get to use it in the standard ARPS games.

P.S: Head, I think you're missing a line break before 'ACRE' in the OP.
