What's in your PC? (specs)
I always like to find out what the rig setups others are running to see what might possibly work for me, or what doesn't.
My Current Rig:

Oh frak no. That stock cooler was noisy, obnoxious and horrible. It had an idle temp at 50º or so. I am running a Corsair H70 Water Cooler. My idle temp was as low as 19º one day. Now I idle at 25º with the OC.
When I pulled the stock cooler off, it had boiled the thermal grease.. stock AMD cooler is failsauce.

Mine is SO BAD, I wont even post it. All you need to know is that it's components are low-mid range from 4 to 5 years ago.If you like prog rock, then you're with me. If you dont, you are against.

Currently I have:
Core 2 Duo @2.33GHz
4GB DDR2 667MHz RAM
220GB shitty HDD
630 watt PSU from company name I forget
Radeon HD 6870
Yeah... the GPU and PSU is a tad overkill for the other parts, which is why in a week I'm about to upgrade to:
Intel Core i3 2100
6GB DDR3 1600MHz RAM
1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 HDD
10-06-2011, 03:28 AM #6
Intel i5 760 (4x 2.80GHz/8MB L3 Cache)
Liquid cooling system
8 GB DDR3-1333
Radeon HD 5830
640 GB 7200 RPM
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
22" LCD 1920x1080 ASUS VH222H

Mine's still a decent system, though by no means top notch. The biggest problem I have with it is just pushing the resolutions I like to use, where I could probably run near everything if I just ran something a bit smaller.
The original system, purchased in late 2007, was basically the same, except with an Athlon 64 x2 5600 and an ATI x1950 pro. The ATI burned out, and I swapped out the Athlon last Februaryish to the best CPU I could drop into my motherboard. For the BC2 demo. And got basically no performance boost that I could see. I still hold out hope that if I actually reformat, I'll get some sort of a boost or something.
Future upgrades? I'll probably need a full overhaul in the near future (within the next year or so/whenever I can afford it), where I plan on getting an SSD as well. By that time, the price for a reasonably sized SSD should be more affordable.
Athlon II X4 635 @ 2.9Ghz (stock)
4 GB DDR2-800
AMD Radeon 4850
Corsair 520HX Modular PSU
~1 TB total hard drive space
HD-DVD drive (my software refuses to install/update correctly on 7 :( )
Creative Gigaworks T20 speakers
Benq FP241W monitor

AMD Radeon 6850 1GB
Intel X25-M 80GB SSD
Western Digital 1TB 7200rpm HDD
Samsung Blu-Ray Combo Drive

I'm gaming on my laptop. It's a ASUS G53JW:
Intel Core i5 460M - 2.53 GHz
4 GB DDR3 SDRAM - 1066 MHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M - 1.5 GB GDDR5 SDRAM
500 GB Hybrid Hard Drive (4 GB flash) - 7200 rpm

Core2Duo E8400 @ 3.6Ghz
8 GB Corsair XMS2 DHX DDR2
Sapphire Radeon 5850
Soundblaster X-Fi Gamer (had issues with the onboard sound)
Drives: Samsung 250GB, WD 500GB, Samsung 1TB + 2GB external drive for backups, Optiarc (I think that's Sony) DVD-RW
Screens: Samsung Syncmaster 226BW (22", 1680*1050) and an Acer screen I bought months ago for dual-monitoring and haven't even connected yet (21,5", not standing next to me atm)
beQuiet! straight power 550W
Enermax Chakra case
Logitech G500 mouse
IBM Model-M keyboard (the only real keyboard there is; screw you guys and your fancy G15s! ;-) )
Sennheiser PC-151 headset
EDIT: The system is over 3 years old now but still doing pretty well; only things I changed/upgraded were soundcard (as mentioned, issues with the onboard sound causing bluescreens), GFX card (originally a 8800GTS G92) and the DVD-drive as the old one broke due to me inserting the plastic cover from a DVD spindle along with a blank DVD. Oh yeah, and the G500 as my old G5 broke down about a year ago (mousewheel)

well, i'm still using my PC i built around 5 years ago, and it's getting on a little. It runs everything i throw at it, though, as near as it makes no difference to max setting at 1920x1080, so I can't really justify any upgrades.
Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 3.2Ghz (because it's getting on, it doesn't overclock as well as it used to)
Corsair H50 (Idle Temps of 21C)
6GB Corsair XMS2 DHX
Abit IP35Pro (I was actually really upset when Abit went out of the mobo business, they had some great features)
Coolermaster M850 850w PSU (If i ever need to upgrade, I won't have to buy another PSU)
XFX HD4890 (with custom painted heatsink, the stock one was GROSS)
Powercolour HD4850 (new edition, was sitting doing nothing in the loft so why not?)
Also done a load of cable braiding myself, and i'm particularly proud of the 24pin ATX cable. Looks niiiiiiiice :)
all in a Coolermaster Cosmos Black. Beautiful but monolithic case.
Edit: forgot to add that i have an Intel X25-V SSD- probably the BEST upgrade i've ever made to my PC, and a samsung Spinpoint.
Peripheral wise, i'm rocking a Logitech G500 courtesy of my lovely GF, and a logitech wireless keyboard doohickey, with some Sennheiser HD201s or when i want be rather noisy, my class Creative I-Trigue speakers. Love the sound of those through my Xonar DG.

i pulled the fans off of my H50 yesterday and there was a half centimetre of dust cacked onto one side :/ and i live in a house with a clean freak. removing it dropped my temps by 5C lol.

That's nothing. My computer randomly shut down the other week, so I checked what it was doing. Turns out, the heatsink on my 4850 was so caked with dust that the fan was unable to spin. Removing it dropped my temps by 30-40C.
Which is rather weird, because the fan hangs off the bottom of the card, and both the front intakes have dust filters on them.

I ordered hypoallergenic filters for all my spots, but my case has a pretty sweet front filter already.

Here's my system. I'm working on a refresh as we speak, so try not to mock these too hard; I know it's old. But I'll be damned if it still doesn't chug along and play what I want it to.
Windows 7 Pro (32-bit)
Athlon 64 X2 4800+
Asus A8N32-SLI Deluxe
Sapphire HD 4850 512MB
2x Western Digital 500GB HDD in RAID0
500W Antec PSU
Pioneer 16x DVD-RW (EIDE)
Sony DVD-RW (SATA)
Some kind of Antec case... can't remember which :/
And a super sweet 19" LCD monitor made by Viewsonic!
5.1 Speakers by Logitech. (I had Cambridge Soundworks Megaworks 510D, but they died. Booooo.)

This rig is two and a half years old (the oldest parts are getting on 7), cost me ~£660 then and it's still going strong. I think I need to look into overclocking my CPU (I don't use a stock cooler) and upgrading my GPU in the near future if I want to have any hope of playing Battlefield 3 or ArmA 3.

Eww a southpaw's room! A heretical setup! lol. That Q6600 should OC pretty damn easily from what I've read. Get it to 3.4GHz! (big difference if you do)
