Oh shit, that's big news. Crytek previously said that they had no intentions of bidding on it, but maybe they saw the rumoured prototype that was wowing people and thought "You know what, what the hell!" Not to mention by now, the brand has a lot of awareness.

I'm guessing the prototype comes with the IP right?

So long as it's Darksiders, I wouldn't see why not.

Crawler is not Darksiders. Darksiders is Lot 4, Crawler is part of Lot 5 (internal IPs).

As has been previously reported, Homeworld has gone to Gearbox. Another one-off is the Drawn to Life series, which is some Nintendo DS game, which went to 505 games. Absolutely everything else that was up for auction went to Nordic games.

Good, bad? I honestly have no idea. I think they're relatively new on the scene, they purchased Jowood's assets a while back and now have pretty much all of THQ's. Don't really know much about them, other than that they're on GOG so hopefully we'll see some of the new THQ stuff on there.

The only relevant thing I know about Nordic Games is that they're publishing Deadfall Adventures, the new game from Farm 51 (Necrovision series, latest Painkiller).

Well, at least someone sensible got Homeworld.

Oh, I do tire myself out with my jokes.

Nordic Games inheriting Jowood's back catalogue and now banking those THQ licenses puts them in a really nice place financially, in the long term, but they have yet to prove they will actually be able to follow up on those franchises with new games.

Last I heard they were seriously considering a sequel to Aquanox, so there's that.

    Is that from Blood Diamonds?

Also, Nordic Games don't have development studios of their own so this doesn't mean much right now. On the other hand, both Darksiders and Red Faction seem pretty dead to me. The last games didn't sell particularly well and the critical reception wasn't too great either. Not something you simply throw money at.

I thought SM went along with DOW and Relic? I'm sure I saw it on the same notes, too. Also, BioWare making another Space Marine game? I...you know, I like meaningful conversation and options in my game, but Space Marine? Really??

No salt required. Space Marine was bought by SEGA along with Relic.

Yeah, the first article was pretty stupid, but the link to the forums makes sense. Bioware allegedly purchased the rights/contract for the 40k MMO that THQ has been sitting on for a few years. Which actually is right up Bioware's alley and makes perfect sense since Relic haven't really expressed interest in it. And, if memory serves, Games Workshop expressed interest in contracting for individual games so have Relic do Dawn of War and whatever they want and farm stuff like the MMO out to people who actually do MMOs. Rather than just letting a company allocate workers as needed.

The fact the supposed source keeps mixing Space Marine and Dark Millennium is a pretty good indicator that the whole story is bunk. EA just got massively burnt by a high profile franchise MMO and Dark Millennium was stuck in development limbo for ages.

EA could have secured some sort of publishing/development deal with Games Workshop, but I doubt any existing IPs from the late THQ would be involved in such a deal.

Dark Millennium would be nice to see finished but with next gen consoles coming soon the engine would be getting a bit to old.
