Freeware early 80s style platform game

Pino's Tower is a early 80s style platformer where the player has to collect all the fruits present in the level to access the next level. By jumping from platform to platform the player must collect the five fruits in a level while avoiding different type of enemies. The contact of the player with one enemy results in death and the loss of one of the five lives. The game has been developed with the game engine software "Game Editor" (www.game-editor.com). You can download for free both the Windows binary and the game source code at http://bluestarinteract.altervista.org/index.html

Those guys took like 5 fruits into the sky. They might even have bought them from the grocery store, I dunno. Then Pino takes back like 20 times the number of fruits and straight up murders a dude.

I maybe ignorant to copyright law, but is this safe from the copyright protection of Mario?

Anyway I have (or had) Mario software on a very old Apple machine (not sure the model, someone gifted it to me long ago, no graphic interface), but that floppy is not running anymore. Miss it so much.

You are aware that there must be zillion mario remakes and Clones on the net?
Beamdog (something like Steam) has a Mario remake in their "free Games" Department.

I for my part sometimes play Remakes from old c64 Games like ,for Example, the very authentic remake of Bruce Lee.

Just try googling "remake" and a game or platform of your choice.
