Physics means physics. Physics means science.
GTA IV uses some odd form of science.
Which means it uses an odd form of physics then, yes?
But GTA4 is a game with its own world and as such can apply its own rules then by that very definition (Even if its based on real worlds physics)? Sure, some of it is just random glitches and bugs but as a gameworld it still has its own set of physical rules.
It does, but they don't make sense at times and seem wildly inconsistent, hence why BenBuja has managed to create over 12 videos containing examples of it freaking out.
I would have thought half the fun is finding the stuff that makes GTA4's physics so inconsistent. Its why we have gifs of motorcycles freaking out!
Actually, i'm curious now. Is there anywhere I can read about physics coding in games that might explain why bugs like that would happen? From my perspective its like the that part of the gameworld was "missing" the physical laws so the bike just did its own thing and spazzed out.
With the swing glitch, to use a notable example, it's to do with the swings being improperly placed in the world, so pushing agains them causes them to sort of act like a spring that's being compressed, but with (obviously) bizarre results.
Not sure exactly what would cause it in general, though. I'd think it's a mixture between how objects are placed, their 'hit boxes' and so on.
