I really need to finish Stalker SoC at some point, so that I can get on with playing Stalker CoP. It's a bloody tough game to get through though.

Stalker was such a let down in how the world was made.

Been playing through Crysis 2, very pretty game, shame that it is mired by being boringly linear, and ridiculously oversized weapons, its completely absurd. Why do pistols take up a 1/3 of the screen space.

And neither are there nanosuits and an alien invasion. Think of it as an alternate futureverse with a huge dollop of artistic license; guess they just wanted their Escape From the Planet of the Apes moment. You can bet Crysis 3 will be even more skewed in that respect.

Looking forward to see how they do the whole dome over Manhattan thing. I had an idea for a game some years back that was like Escape From New York but with a big rusty looking Truman Show style dome over Manhattan sealling it off to the outside world. As a newly interned prisoner you'd be trying to find an escape route, whilst doing deals and missions, fighting for and against various factions within the dome. The escape route would be via a perilous climb up the Empire State building's antennae to an old fallen gantry in the ceiling of the dome. The idea was inspired by this old classic photo of two guys repairing the Empire State antennae http://all-that-is-interesting.com/f...state-building. I had it as a desktop background for ages some years back. Almost gives me a sense of vertigo looking at it sometimes.

GSC kept promising exactly that for three years.

Well then you need to be stupid to actually believe that in 2007 we could have that kind of graphics and fully open world.. I mean they still delivered one of the best fps games,so i don't see why complaining.

They failed to make their precious ALIFE work properly, graphics( not really that outstanding by 2007) weren't the issue.

Because the default FOV is about 60.

Let's see, Crysis - about twice as good graphics-wise, and with about quadruple as big levels. Release date: November 2007.

I have it set the max the game will allow, 80. And weapon size has nothing to with the FOV, they occupy too much space since the game was designed for consoles.
