    It's hard to explain the story without spoiling everything. There is no main plot explained to at the beginning of the game; you are just a group of Desert Rangers who journey into the wasteland to kill shit and sometimes help people - suggestions of some greater machination occurring in the wasteland are picked up from the people you encounter during your travels.

    The game is easy to get into for an old-school CRPG.There is little to no stat-juggling, and the death system is very forgiving. It has an interesting combat system, a hybrid between isometric and first person. Combat choices occur in first person, but you can move your characters across the map while in combat. For example, say you have two dudes with assault rifles, and two dudes who brawl; you can can have the two gunners stay put and shoot, and at the same time have your two brawlers use their turns to get into melee range.

    Sorry for the frame counter in the corner. First time using RadeonPro for screenshots instead of Fraps. RP captures MLAA in screenshots, Fraps does not. :D

    That's not a kid, just some short woman who got all mad at my character for some reason and started punching me in the face. I couldn't imagine why she got all mad, all I did was crash a car at high speed up a staircase, flip over a few people, and then got out of the burning car and kicked her in the face while she sat on a park bench.

    No reason to just start hitting somebody! :P

    1) Wow. that had to take some time. I normally just place two towers of one block left and right, then roof over it and few levels made out of platforms. Everything over the ground. I can jump high enough for the worm not to reach me so i can shoot him with arrows easily as well as go closer to ground to hit him when he is just below or over the ground. Enclosed space prevents entry from flying monsters.

    2) BE A MAN AND FIGHT THEM ON THE GROUND :)

    My favourite enemy in this game.

    It has exhausted me and taken my shotgun away!

    Here it is blocking my bullets.

    Here is it looking a little surprised.

    And here is one with rigamortis.

    Many times have I been fighting these guys and had my gun pulled away only to fall into a gap in the floor. Best time was when I had my gun pulled away as a fridge came flying towards my head which swiped the gun away from me and I had no time to find it.

    @Lukasz

    1) I had a lot of free time that day.
    2) I had other things I wanted to be doing besides fighting these guys. Just wanted it to be over.

    @Scott

    I actually encountered a duo of invincible midget mutants in my game. I emptied everything I had into them, including my rocket launcher, and they just kept going. Finally had to run right by them to get the stuff I needed.

    Someone in another thread got me interested in RoadWar 2000 so I decided to give it a try. I downloaded the PC-DOS version at first, but after looking at some screen shots decided to get the Amiga version as well. I had noooo idea how much better looking the Amiga/C64 counterparts of so many games looked (including Wasteland, though the UI the C64 version is shit, plus you can't make Macros as far as I know).

    The pitiful title screen of the DOS version.

    And the awesome power of the Amiga title screen.

    The changes extend into the actual game as well.

    I mean I guess a post-apocalyptic world shouldn't look beautiful.

    But it sure doesn't hurt. Also unlike Wasteland the detailed graphics don't come at the price of the interface, in fact the Amiga interface is worlds ahead of the DOS version, the mouse support is especially welcome.

    I really hope inXile come through and remake Wasteland. It'd be good to see Fargo helming the remake of one of his earlier titles (again).

    Got it a bit mixed up, Wasteland was on the C64. Point stands though.

    @agentorange Yeah, they are really testing. The room in x8 with 3 of them in was really difficult. I was blasting one from the corridor with my long range weapon and it pulled my gun which fell in the room on to a lower level. I then realised I had the gauss rifle and killed them one shot each but it felt like a hollow victory :S

    @daftpunk I have plenty more mostly of me reloading though as my bandage key was also my screenshot key so I'd be reloading and wrapping myself up.
