1.7.2 is pretty nice in general. The terrain is much more interesting now, a bit like in the past, although more smooth. More variation in height and such. And there are some weird hills to be found again.
EDIT: just tried Amplified too. As can be seen, I don't get distance fog in 1.7.2, so things often look rather stupid, with the world very abruptly cut off.

Some more Mass Effect on a machine with no GPU. I've upped the resolution from 1280x800 to 1360x768 and it's still smooth and slow-down free. Anywhere above that and the framerate seems to die a quick death. Still un-modded at this time, though I have edited the TextureLODSettings in the BIOEngine file to fix that face resolution bug. Some shots with film grain, some without. Personally I prefer it with film grain on.
Again, this is on a machine with integrated graphics and hardware not much better than that of your average netbook.

Some nice lens flare coming off the engine core. Continually impressed by how well the lighting effects are looking on such low-spec hardware.

I am planning on giving the Onyx armour a cosmetic mod at some point, in order to give me a better sense of continuity between the three games, as in 2 and 3 I use a blue stripe on Shepard rather than a red one (fan of Nightwings' third costume).
So what I'm thinking is, if playing as Soldier, I will keep the red stripe on the medium armour but with the addition of the Alliance symbol, appropriately weathered and distressed on either the shoulder or neck area, perhaps in small form next to the N7 logo as well, and possibly some sort of rank indicator on the opposite side of the neck. (It's always bugged me that people were continually identifying Shepard as 'Commander' despite there being nothing to visually indicate this.)
For the heavy armour, I will replace the red stripe with my preferred blue one, and the Alliance symbol with that of the Spectres, while retaining the rank indicator. At the point in the game where Shepard is inducted into the Spectres, I would then immediately switch between the medium and heavy sets as I should have enough points to use heavy armour by then, and have it seem as though Shepard has switched to his/her own customised armour.
