Stop this madness, i do not have time to play it again
So, that was Eschalon: Book One.
PS: I'll post the final IWD1 screenshots soon.

Time to roll a Tremere and make someone explode.
The bartender was killed by a bomb. No fucks were given.
A fatal breakdancing "accident."
Been playing D3 All day when I learned that the sign of the end times might be coming.

All times I have enjoyed greatly, have suffered greatly, both with those that loved me, and alone.
No beauty lies here. There was a whole section full of beholders which throw around their instant death spells like candy and in unlimited quantity. Since their gaze does not qualify as spell, it's very difficult to stop them from disintegrating half your party before you even get in weapon reach and the only thing that worked was stunning them. I'm not sure if casting blindness did anything special (otherwise it's just an effective debuff) but in the end this area took a lot of quickloads either way.
Another one of Luremaster's dick moves. These slimes were virtually immune to physical damage and while they didn't hit very hard, they can poison your people. I had my wizard and bard blast with everything they had but it still took forever. Sadly, Wizardry never learned level 8 spells until the very end so this Horrid Wilting comes from a pair of magical bracers.
This is from the last level of the Luremaster dungeon. It's full of extremely difficult fights and twistedly evil trick battles. This is the only time in all of IWD that you fight bats. Why? They server no purpose here but to block your way and mess up your pathfinding. Even when rolling a 19 they cannot hurt you. There's the were-jackals that are mostly like were-wolves but have the added ability to put your guys to sleep. Being asleep is one of the worst statuses because it pretty much only goes away if that person takes damage but enemies won't do that so you have to give one of your own guys the task to stab your own people back to wakefulness. There's the glabrezus, demons, that cast dispel magic at will and are very tough and hit just as hard. Oh, and those two guys casting spells? Cleric's that heal the jackals and cast all sort of mind control spells. But that's not all there is to it-
See that hooded guy? There's two summoners who, well, summon glabrezus until the sun grows cold. I guess it's kinda hard to tell from those screenshots but just that one fight took me at least an hour and I'd like to point out that this is not even a bossfight or anything like that. Trials of the Luremasters is simply constructed of pure hatred and contempt for all life in the universe. It's a shame I didn't make any screenshots from the actual final bossfight, mainly because there wasn't much to see. However, it is by far the most infuriating and difficult thing ever done in the infinity engine and I had to resort to the most devious of tricks to beat it.

No coke for you! Anyways, after the return, most of Heart of Winter turned out to be a cakewalk. Trials probably only resulted in a single level up for everyone but some of the loot was pretty crazy like that one-handed axe with 1d12+4 damage and added chance to stun.
The ice caverns were really pretty if a bit unchallenging. The remorhaz thingies just want to bite your face off, that's stuff I can deal with.
Ohh! Title drop!
If only there was some sort of person capable of absorbing the souls of dragons... hmm... nah, that's just unrealistic.

I don't appear to be doing much.
Hands down the best dialogue option in the game.
Group photo before the final onslaught.
"Well, that wasn't very fair, was it. Only thirty of them against all of us."
At last, the beast is slain! But at what cost? Sadly, Althea and Anthile didn't make it. The dragon quite literally fell them with his dying breath and since the epilogue plays once you leave the room, there was no way to revive them at a temple. I could have reloaded but that would have dishonoured their sacrifice.

Great. I got dragoned to death. I just finished DA2 and I'm back to the Dragon Knight Saga. Lots of love for dragons, and then they kill me.
That only looks that way. Your character had the best armor class and dished out the most physical damage, especially after picking up the axe I mentioned. Actually, I really regret having picked a pure fighter for Unaco. Those bonus HP were useful early on but especially later he lacked versatility.
You shouldn't be so negative about this. Your sacrifice saved the icewind dale for all time*!

I'm playing IWD with a fighter/thief in my party and that guy kicks so much ass with a longbow it's insane. I think he's responsible for 50% of the group's kills with a TAC0 of -2 and 4 attacks per round. That only looks that way. I'm using a few of the tweaks including the one that makes Heavy Armor more like in NWN/NWN2 which was harder earlier on but now I've got ACs of -14 and -12 on my frontliners :/
I can't find my screenshot any more but early on in the game there's a dialogue between the first "villain" and your character. The villain goes into detail, describing all the horrors it will bring on your world and amongst the usual answers ("never!","you are evil and must be slain!" etc) there's the simple "Woah." to which she replies "Exactly." Then the combat starts.Hands down the best dialogue option in the game.

Play Arma2:CO with us. (It isn't nearly as difficult as you might think.)
It's okay to not like things.
Yeah, IWD / IWD2 had some quite funny dialogue options. I think I'll have to play them again some time... after I'm finished with Diablo III.
And because screenshots of the login screen, while funny, aren't that interesting:
That's quite a silly hat you have there... but according to its name it's a fez, and fezes are cool, or so I've heard from a reputable source.![]()
