Now having 2-3 brutes and inf in gen room both maps in a row as a tech... Pisses me off
Hear from the spirit-world this mystery:
Creation is summed up, O man, in thee;
Angel and demon, man and beast art thou,
Yea, thou art all thou dost appear to be!
I'm in the server now flying in black and white circles waiting for people to join. Isn't it prime playing time in your region?
Look on the bright side - at least you're getting reamed by visible opponents now.
I do feel you, though. I prefer playing tech, but keeping the generator up is a thankless task sometimes. I've decided to play soldier for a while, I get more reliable XP with it anyway.
Uh, it's pretty!
But yeah, I can see the problem for a HoF....
Regarding the Brute update: More Area Denial? Seriously? I see fun times for my raider, when everybody tries the new Brute Loadout...
And why does he also get the survival pack It's the only thing we poor Soldiers had! I want an update too!
Give it a week and people will foget the flavour of the week brute patch and continue as normal.
Acording to the timestamp you posted that at 6pm GMT. Thats a little early for most Europeans. Just got in, need dinner, or had dinner and possibly spending time with the family.
8pm - 10pm is possibly a better time for jumping into games.
Looks like the Hi-Rez site has been down for a few hours. Kind of bad timing, considering coverage of the recent update will lead to new interest.
Got my first 'The Slayer' award as a Doombringer today on Katabatic by killing 35 people and not dying for the entire map. Its odd, since I initially hated the Doomy (and playing 'pure' HoF is a bitch on a bad team), but now that I've got used to the chaingun its my favourite weapon in the game. Combined with Rage and Potential Energy, he's an absolute machine when it comes to defending.

I had a 75% off the LMG for the Jug as my daily offer. Didn't have enough gold, and the shop was down until it changed. Sadface.
But maxed Rage gives you -35% mass. Are you flying around the stand and chasing, rather than sitting on it with Super Heavy, or what?
Sadface, indeed. I have to say that I'm getting quite fond of my Spinfusor MKD. It may not have quite the damage of the Brute's, but its splash radius is amazing. The LMG has torn me up in the hands of too many enemies for me to doubt its worth, though.

Most of the time I'm moving around near the flag laying mines/shields, harrassing people with the Saber (you'd be surprised how effective a few 'beeps' are for keeping people on the ground) and tearing up attackers with the chaingun. Why do I not actually HoF most of the time? Because its suicidal on most pub servers. You're more than likely to be sniped, mortared, or orbitally bombarded repeatedly for the whole game because nobody can be arsed to harass and chase down the perpetrators, and you cant chase them down yourself because a) you're a heavy, and b) you're the HoF.
So instead I maximise my energy regen through rage and PE, and rip apart anyone unlucky enough to be travelling under 250km/h outside my base. As I said, when you get the knack of aiming it that chaingun is frightfully efficient.

I picked up the new Brute Pack and now i use its additional health and energy regen to diskjump with potential energy around the whole map at speeds pretty insane for a heavy. ^^
I had so much fun today heavy-capping and chasing. That actually works better than i had thought, the correct routes on some maps easily allow for 180+ caps at full health, sometimes with some energy left, but either Potential energy refills the energy while taking the flag or you have enough health left for another one or two own discjumps that give enough energy for the way home. And that with virtual sniper immunity and even Shrikes often needed more than one hit to actually roadkill me.
Probably not a 'good' strategy but so much fun ^^
Gotta try that! I think the 25% increased move speed is quite radical... Haven't tried it yet.
Or pointing out brutes can go fast with effort, they laugh and berate you're stupidity in chat. 5 seconds later you fly by their 150kph pathfinder behinds at 230.
The fast and the fat.
For tonight: I may have set the game up but work has pulled a sudden late shift on me. Wont attend for those asking why I set it up and did not attend.
Yesterdays games were good. More soon?
Can we re-poll on FF? I vote 50%

Also, does anyone have experience with the TCN's Shotgun? Is it worth getting before the Thumper? Possible advantages I see are its damage in close range, cheaper price and lack of self-damage. Downsides are that it requires more aiming than a Thumper, has less range and does less damage per hit. So, basically, it's less than half the cost of the Thumper, but only good indoors or point blank.

I would assume Pentecost is a hollyday in most western countries. It sure is in Germany. And double XP sound fun, but also CIV 5 is free to play for the weekend on Steam so i will most likely play some multyplayer of that with people who do not own it (wierd, i know) and to top it off there are some awesome concerts to attend. Busy weekend.
To the shotgun, it is okay and does good damage if you are good with shotguns (i am not) but it only has a clip size of 2, so if you miss one, thats bad.
But you forgot about the biggest disadvantage: It replaces the improved repair tool. I had a loadout with the shotgun to fight for the gener, but once it is cleared (if, that is) i allways miss the repair tool way more than i enjoyed the shtgun beforehand.
If going as an aggressive tech it is possibly a cool gun for getting in the enemy gen room / on their flag stand and dumping turrets around (far beyond my skills). Or maybe use it on a preset load out besides the repair tool, swapping as best as you can between assaults?
Seen a couple of techs who use them after getting a vehicle, presuming they are moving forward as fast as they can on a bike or what-not before getting aggressive at the destination.
I got it for 70% off just for morbid curiosity reasons, not had an actual use for it thus far.
