To be fair to the poor soul, I was on his team and was indeed fairly rubbish at capping, as Felisc can attest.

Good times all around nevertheless, added lots of fellow RPSers to my friends list for future stalking. Are there any events planned for this weekend?

I'm not sure about RPS events, but Spinfusor.org is having a bit pickup game event at 8pm that anyone can join in on if you want a taste of 7v7 competitive style Tribes. More info here: http://www.reddit.com/r/Tribes/comme...am_egocentric/

I would not mind C&H as well. And it offers more room for players, i would not be surprised if some people got rejected wednesday.
CTF is a strategy game that makes use of all the classes well. With certain classes like Jug or DMB you can sit relatively static and fulfill a role easily. Arena takes all those tactics and bins them; SHOOT STRAIGHT OR DIE TRYING!
I want to do some C&H myself as I liked Domination in UT when I played that (just thinking about it makes me feel old) just I can see why a lot don't like the game, though primarily because Hi-Rez seemed to have just taken the CTF and TDM maps and jimmied the C&H objective points to it. Katabatic is hell as a heavy and Outskirts 3(or whatever it is) is a mortar and disco fest for killwhores.

Sorry for bugging out early last night; have been working too much and some of the jug duels I had were too much for my brain to take. (TIP: Dont buy the fusion mortar delux, be tired and forget you are using it. The mind gets confused as to why shots are not acting correctly).
And the guy calling us noobs... he was on the same team as me so he had a point.

VGY Just put a game up for Sunday.

On another note, I had some fun today with the heavy bolt launcher. At first I thought, nah, thats a weapon I won't use. But as it turned out it is pretty good especially on the offence. (to be honest, was on a low lvl server as I played with a friend who started yesterday).

What are your thoughts on the heavy bolt launcher? As it's one of those weapons you rarely see used.
I've never really used it myself, but it's usefulness definitely depends on the map. Assuming you're playing Heavy On Flag, most of the time the chaingun is going to be better, since you're going to want to be on top of the flag to splat incoming pathfinders (with Super Heavy perk fully upgraded) so a splash damage weapon is of no use to you. On Drydock though you might find that standing on the flag is a no-win situation if you're constantly getting mortared by Juggernauts, and cappers can come in from pretty much any angle anyway, so you might find it's better to use the bolt launcher and stand on top of the building behind where you've got a good view of the flag but can stay out of range of most mortars.

Mines just came up as my daily deal, so I'm now properly specced for HoF - they really do make a difference, far more useful than the forcefields. I'll have to try out this new Chain Cannon too, seems like a lot of people prefer it.

Just curious; did they change the price on the heavy bolt launcher? I swear it was a 100k item, yet my store page without a discount lists it as 42k.

Looks so. I might buy it

    Yeah, I believe they did.

Also, Arena seems to be the only place where I'm a decent Pathfinder. Or maybe I'm just terrible in small games that have heavy defense. And is it just me, or is it very difficult to hit fast-moving targets with the LAR?

I recently came across a fix for T:A's mouse responsiveness, and it's done wonders for making the mouse feel like a 'proper' shooter. The trouble is that it's messed with my aim, and I'm still adjusting. Here's a link.

The price on the HBL is essentially what held me back from buying it. It looks to be an interesting item, but I was not willing to shell out that much considering I also wanted Super heavy and the mines (which were 75k). Its been on a daily deal for me a lot, but mainly 25% off or whatnot, and that was before I had the Thumper / Jug LMG so I had other priorities. If its 50% off or more now I may consider it.

Didn't work for me - mouse was still laggy in the menu, and the game crashed before I could actually get in-game. To be honest though, I've never felt the in-game mouse latency to be an issue, it's only really on the menus that it bothers me (and I can live with that). If I were playing Sentinel I imagine it would be a bit more bothersome, but it's neither here nor there with a Spinfusor or Chaingun.

I can't feel any mouse lag, no. And my PC runs the game flawlessly.
My main issue with the game is the menu. The "fade in and out" when you click something, awkward keyboard navigation ... Why is it so hard? Esc is supposed to bring me back one step in the menu. It does that half of the time (other half it brings me to the main menu). And ofcourse - the friend system. Barely any information about your friends on the list. Even when joining a player. Why can't I see the game mode he's playing? And many have addressed the issue with joining a friend - you're not guaranteed to join his team. I want some kind of party system.

I'm quite sure they've heard all of this already...

My deal of the day is the INF's Mercenary skin. Pfft.

I've got ~70k, and I plan to <finally> unlock the Thumper when I hit 100. After that, probably more perks, like Bounty Hunter, Ultra Cap II. Other things to eventually unlock are the SEN's Falcon (as I'm still a terrible shot with the Nova Blaster) or the INF's Stealth Spinfusor (or something other than that smg). I guess I'll eventually unlock Brute, too, but there's no rush on that. Fractal spamming and fatfinding are probably fun, but meh.

Survivalist is an important perk for my part. And I definitely recommend the Jackal if you're using the INF. Stealth spinfusor deals 700 on direct hit and maximum 500 splash.
Brute is fun. The devastator spinfusor made it even more fun.

  13. #673
I already have Survivalist, so that's good. The jackal seems a bit cheesy to me, which is why I'm not sure if I want it or not. I suppose it's alright to get, since its intended for base destruction and skilled player-sticking, but being annoyed by it as a TCN has put a bad taste in my mouth.

Egocentric should also be on my to-get list, as I'm otherwise a pretty mediocre pathfinder. (and even worse in small games where it's me vs some heavy class) It might help me on my rare cap attempts. Close Combat for INFing, I guess. It's amazing to me how many INFs try to backstab me when I Jug, but don't sticky me first to guarantee a kill. So, I get knifed, then just turn around and swat them.

Well, mostly because a sticky will outright kill a INF if he is to close to the blast. I had some fun as DMB by getting as quickly to the INF after he stickies me.

Something else, anyone knows if the weight of a class influence the jetpacking? Better said, does Heavy Weight influence the capabilities of you flying around or does it only affect the blast effect of explosions?

How do you get knived by INFs as a juggernaut? Do they bother climbing hills after you?
As for egocentric - it's super helpful for capping (gaining speed, that is). Also if you are fighting indoors with JUG or some else explosive maniac.

Yes, it does definitely affect that too. It says "mass", and not "explosive (or kinetic) resistance". I guess that's what in the code that makes heavies... heavier.

Everyone on defense is annoyed by that thing... banned in competetive play for a reason.

Yeah. I suspect their hill-climbing factors into their lack of effectiveness.

It also happens if I ever get near the gen room on xfire. (it's worth lobbing mortars down there, but I otherwise wouldn't waste much time defending it) I once had two try it within a span of seconds, resulting in hilarity. One stabs me, so I turn around and melee him to death. Another one hits me right after, and I repeat. It's hilarious when you turn around and they're standing there, just looking at you, as if they're surprised you're still alive. It takes at least two backstabs, even with Close Combat, doesn't it? I just don't see why they try. Maybe there are enough dumb/slow heavies out there to make it seem feasible.

When I get the CC perk, I'll try to see how fast you have to be to sticky/stab a stationary Jug or Dmb.

I think you can oneshot the lighter classes, but not heavies.

I've been on the recieveing end of the devastator a few times and to be honest it seems a bit too powerful, although I haven't had enough experience of it yet to judge properly.

Brute as a class still doesn't interest me though, it doesn't really have an interesting/defined enough role to make it seem worthwhile in CTF.

Its not defined, but fatcapping is kind of fun if you can get the hang of the movement. Gladiator and fractals on the flagstand is rather nice for creating an AoE spamfeast to keep people away also.

When I'm speeding along as a Brute I make Harley Davidson noises in my head as a bonus.
