New patch looks nice. Twinfusor weapon model looks pretty sweet, too. I wish the parts for my new PC would get here sooner EDIT: Is the "Crusher" skin basically Mr. T in power armor?

I really liked the idea of the voice packs, especially the female ones (nice to get a bit of variety in). Then I heard them :\ Most other things look pretty good though.

I'm hoping we get some new faces from that article.

As I discovered with a few people I know:
    1) They play for about an hour and find the guns are not stupidly easy to use. They somehow come up against a skilled gold / silver level player and get anihilated over and over. The presumption "He is only killing me because he has paid for that gun. I find it impossible to shoot the weapons I am given at the start, yet he has no problem killing me. PAID TO WIN!" I hit a friend with a fusion mortar once and he quit because of it. Why? He refused to believe that I hit him with the same goofy crap he couldn't fire, there-go I paid for an aimer for it.
    2) They played the beta when it first came out and presume the game works on the same system as then. No biggy really as it was a bit wonky back then.
    3) People just dont like F2P at all and will scream at it at every opportunity.

But on the vid, it looks interesting. Gonna have to see how much the Twinfusor will cost and if the balance is correct before I pitch in any real opinion.

Hello! Just saw your self-promotion on the RPS article. I'm kinda very horrible at Tribes, but I think i'll jump over to the RPS server some time if you guys don't mind, I have a feeling organized Tribes matches are awesome.

I have enough xp saved up to buy all 3 and I plan on at least getting the PTH and SLD ones(I don't play JUG really, but will probably get it eventually) and will report on them as soon as I try them out in matches.

I'm new to the game and really bad. I can't play classes like infiltrator properly. It just seems to me like some classes, such as the infiltrator, are objectively terrible in comparison to the heavier classes who seem to do twice the damage with three times the HP, at a relatively little disadvantage.

As an inf, what should I be doing? All you hear is not to play capture the generator, so the only other option is to go clear the flagstand. Heavies have so much HP, and the inf is so damn fragile that I can never kill the HoF or etc, so I end up feeling useless.

I already made a comment to Aura via Steam, but I wanted to say to DeVadder (and anyone else who was in that game that ended around 5pm EDT)--GG! That was a great game.

With my recent warping issues in Tribes, I've had to snipe more, as going fast leads to goofy issues. My support ticket is getting a response from HR, and I just sent my reply back with diagnostics. Hopefully they can figure it out and I can get back to playing normally.

Hi all! I'm getting back into T:A after not playing it much for a while, and I'd love to play some more organized games. I'm Ritashi in-game, level 12, and I generally play Pathfinder (mostly capping, and chasing when it's needed. I'm not perfect on routes, but I hit them more often than not, bar a sniper or a cluttered stand). I also do Soldier occasionally, generally in a light offense or defense role. I rarely play any heavy classes. I'd be interested in playing in that Pathfinder tourney, if you guys would have me - I'm generally very available, ever so slightly less so on Mondays/Wednesdays.

Sidian - I would suggest getting the hang of another class first before having to worry about the extra energy management of the inf. As inf - knock out the gen is helpful, distracting is also good.

Ritashi - Welcome aboard. Add me on steam(and in game) and sign up on gameshrine(link on previous page).

Same goes for the others who expressed interest - sign up at gameshrine and add me on steam.

By the way, my current booster is running out in three days. After that I'm going to post how much xp/hour etc I was able to grind in that time and what I think is most cost effective. So new players coming here from the blog post might want to check that out before throwing money at HiRez

I often play tech, I've not even unlocked the inf class (ethical objections) but seeing as I get repeatedly killed by them I have noticed a few patterns among the good ones:
    • Jackal is OP (and due for a nerf in today's patch) but to be honest inf's do need an explosive weapon, if you want to play the class a lot invest in that or the spinfusor.
    • Whenever possible use melee, ideally from behind. The close combat perk is a huge bonus for infs (also look at potential energy, looter and survivalist).
    • If you cloak in combat make sure you change the direction you move in once you're fully shielded, it's not that hard to guess where you'll end up if you go in a straight line.
    • Never be afraid to hide and wait - I'm always much more concerned about an inf I know is there but can't find than one that starts dueling.
    • By all means blow up the gen, just don't camp in there all game or make it your first and only target in every run. If there's a tech about it could be worth blowing up the gen then skulking for a minute or so, trying to kill anyone who wants to repair it. Doing this once will be enough to make them paranoid and spend time randomly shelling the gen room trying to flush you out.
    • What works on the gen works on other base assets, especially the radar - with it up an inf recharging their energy "hidden" in the base is visible to everyone and almost certainly dead, with it down you're cloaked for free so long as you're out of sight.
    • Distracting the Heavy on Flag is a good use of your time, especially if you know a capper is incoming. Sticky to the head will be enough to get their attention - you don't have to kill them, a good capper can be in and out of range in seconds. If they do ignore you then feel free to keep chucking stickies at their head. As an added bonus the sticky's radius will be enough to clear a few mines too.
    • If there's a sniper on the other team you should be able to scalp them with relative ease, just make sure you come in from behind as their drop jammer will de-cloak you.
    • Base defenders often relax after a dual and wait for their health to recharge. If possible watch the other fights going on around you so you can finish off anyone low on health. The silenced pistol and throwing knives are excellent for this as people probably won't notice you until they've been hit a couple of times.
    • Finally it is possible to play a defensive role as an inf, though it's not often done. You really need prism mines for this though to be even moderately effective though.

With all that said Inf is a very specialised class (along with the sentinel, and to some degree doombringer and raider), if you're finding it tricky it may be a good idea to play around with some of the more general classes. Pathfinder will help you get to grips with light class movement, while tech would be useful to get inside the head of your prey.

Don't forget Sonic Punch for an infiltrator. Although it is fun to see heavies fall to their death sometimes, the real use is with the final upgrade. Sneak in and force a flag drop from a flag carrier. Especially combined with the lurking around in the enemy base type of playstyle.

Another small tip, when you sticky a heavy, get away. Some heavies have the tendancy to try to run to you when you sticky them. When they get close enough they kill you with your own grenades. I do this sometimes, as heavy. I hear the sound, and I don't see the infil then I jump back. It works wonders.

A question, any posibility we will tonight test out the new CTF maps that are only available to costum servers? I know it will screw up the Capture and Hold game, but on the other hand, 2 new maps to have fun with.

This. Or better yet, add a new event between today and Sundays game. RPS events are the only custom servers I play and I can't wait till Sunday for the maps.=)

It's even worse if you have to add that whole list in Tribes (that's what he means)

The social UI is pretty damned horrible, I hope they're going to put some work into it soon.

I don't play this game all that much, but recently I've gotten into it, I'll give this server a try

    don't pwn me please

Anyone having trouble with the new loadouts not working at all? Also, only 2 more? I thought they were going to give us the full 9 possible.

Evidently this is a problem for everyone. Add to it my constant crashing now.....yay
