So anyone going to get this when it comes out then? Releases in 8 hours apparently, I'd quite like to try and play some of it with you guys but I'll hold off if everyone's been put off by the port.

Game has been released on some Warez-Sites already with a semi-functioning Crack (no saving). So much for the necessities of DRM.
Play Arma2:CO with us. (It isn't nearly as difficult as you might think.)
It's okay to not like things.
I'm really, really tempted to pick it up, and might do over the weekend... but I also do want to hold off until I see/hear/read what a few people think of it, see what quality/standard the port is up to, maybe even try a demo to see it for myself.
Pre-loading is go on Steam for anyone interested. Had to restart the client, but it was ready to go after that. I am excite.
Why yes you're right I'm deliciously evil

*blush* I'm flattered by the attention boys, but please let's not make the thread about liddle old me
GFWL is likely for the multiplayer aspect. Remember it's a 360 port.
The game also has Steam DRM.
Yeah, pretty sure the GfWL is just for multiplayer.
Also: If the crack doesn't support saving, it isn't a fully functional crack and is thus an argument for the DRM "working". Because nobody in their right mind (no, Youtube people don't count. But link me to it if you find it) will beat this in one sitting, and are thus encouraged to purchase it if they need it pre-0-day.
And thanks for the heads up. I'll go see if GMG gave me a key yet.

yeah it just uses zdp (other gfwl games have had other drm types attached to the launcher, though; the way gfwl works precludes anything being used on the .exe). although they were a bit clever this time and tied some of the sound files to the decryption key the .exe gets from the zdp server.
the actual crack isn't out yet. it's a hexedit on the data.exe and some fmod .dlls from a previous release (renegade ops). the scene or p2p crack will be out when the decryption keys are available, and it will support saving.
that doesn't even make sense. pre 0-day? so before the game is actually out. if they need it pre 0-day i'd suggest they start a site reviewing computer games.
Supposedly game is already live on Steam in some regions.
I don't think it does have Steamworks. Everything I've read about it, says that it only has GFWL.
It's available on Steam, but that's not the same thing as having Steam DRM (games you buy on Steam, that don't have Steamworks, can be run like any other, normal DRM free game from the .exe in the Steam folder, even if Steam isn't running).
I was (mostly) mocking them, for the record.
But to argue it is an example of the DRM NOT working is wrong. It is just an example of DRM being DRM.

So yeah, is anyone going to want to try and team up and play together or just gonna co-op on the fly with whoever/singleplayer it through?
Do you know how multiplayer in Dark Souls works? Because I don't think you know how it works
I haven't been following Dark Souls's PC updates to matchmaking much, but it really isn't that kind of game. It is the kind of game where you randomly work with people you don't know, not team up and take on the world together. Half the atmosphere is the sensation of being alone in a hellish land.
