I platinum'd Velocity Ultra on my Vita. It's REALLY good and for 1$, it's very much worth it. I endorse it.

IndieRoyale has unlocked Voyager, the bonus game for the Debut 16 bundle.

    http://www.indieroyale.com

Valve has greenlit another 50 games, which probably I won't be able to tackle before the weekend:

Eventually you will say 'Valve has green lit all of the games' and you won't need to list them.
I'm failing to writing a blog, specifically about playing games the wrong way

You may (or not) remember that a while back I mentioned that the developers of Stained were making life a bit hard for people who got the game before it came to Steam - including those who bought it in an Indie Royale Greenlight Bundle.

They chose to make people email 'proof' to get a key and I know this worked because I and a few other people did get keys via that route (I got one about 10 mins after I emailled in fact!!) but then this happened

    http://steamcommunity.com/app/302870...70848363733929

    which resulted in this

    http://www.joystiq.com/2014/07/28/st...bundle-buyers/

*montage of hideous posts on the Steam Forums - posts being removed - more hideous posts about that removal etc. etc. *

    anyway - they caved

    http://www.joystiq.com/2014/08/01/st...ale-customers/

So you should get a key via IR if you need one

I have to say tho - the game is a BIT of a car wreck - it's not entirely surprising but it does bring-up a point.

Some people seem to think that voting for a game on Greenlight and/or supporting a Greenlight Bundle - or even just buying a game before it gets to Steam - legally entitles them to a Steam Key.

    That's quite an assumption!?

It's pretty much expected that if your game is in a bundle regardless of whether you actually promised Steam keys or not, you hand them over now. I think it's fair dos for a Greenlight bundle where there's an explicit promise that you vote for me, you'll get a Steam key but for everything else? Well, everyone else has handed them over now rather than put up with the shouting and pissing on forums so gotta roll with it. It's a thing.

Can't say I'm especially fond of that but what can you do? It's partly why I'm considering not ducking into a bundle again unless I really need the cash. It's too big a mess with too much of a chance of fucking any proper sales over from the off.

We've been on this topic before, and I still believe that if you and/or the bundler promises a key after it's been greenlit, you should comply, as otherwise this would be false advertising.

However, if it's not promised or clearly mentioned (as is often the case with IR Debut bundles), then I believe you have the right to choose not to deliver keys. However, in this case it's stupid, as they firstly delivered the keys via e-mail, and then suddenly decided to opt out because of bad sales.

Anyway, it still boggles my mind that there are so many developers out there with absolutely no sense of marketing for their own game, or that have some decent communication skills (although limited knowledge of the English language can be blamed sometimes for bad communication, but not for the lack of it), which gets us to clusterfucks as the example above.

In this particular case the developer stated

We will also give a steam keys to everyone who will buy the game in this bundle.
It's presumably dependent on your country, but I'd like to think that a business saying "Buy this and we will give you X" gives you some sort of right to receive X.
Irrelevant on further examination of the rest of the thread.

It's notable that Indie Royale apparently chimed-in to say they were "disappointed" by the original decision - which pretty much cements the "Debut Bundles should give keys" thing.

Not many people have tried to duck this - the few who have, have not faired well tho. A couple of games cames to Steam as 'enhanced editions' - otherwise keys have been rained upon us - so I guess people get to thinking it's necessary...

It's also worth remembering that the income per bundle may be poor, but there are developers out there (mostly ones who got into bundles earlier on) who've made more from bundles than they did from sales!! Some games on Steam sell in dozens - some bundles sell 10K - you therefore only need an 80th of the money from each sale, which isn't impossible!?

It makes more sense to be in a bundle AFTER your launch tho - I don't get this need to give away your game before you're even done (the current trend for bundling Early Access stuff - for example)

This sunday on IndieGameStand we've got Metagolf:

    http://www.indiegamestand.com/deal

    --- 8< ---

The Debut bundles, AFAICT, historically always gave keys, so there's at least a tradition in that sense.

I don't think you'll find someone -at least on these boards- that will argue there's legal right to a key, but we've been there other times and it's a custom.

From our point of view it's painfully obvious right? yet it keeps happening so -dicks notwithstanding- it means there is a real problem.

The min is a bit weird on this one. I got Lili and Isomer and it said min was $2, but Lili and Little Big was $1.50 and Little Big and 99 Spirits was $1 so I think they have a minimum on the item.

Lili, Isomer and The Campaign Series all seem to be minimum of $1. Everything else is $0.50 minimum it seems

I wonder, does anyone know of a case where the Developer has not promised a key, either through their own words or via the bundle explicitely stating you'd receive a key, and has been pestered (including media drama) about not handing out keys? All the cases I know of where of Devs going out of their way to state "yes, you will receive keys once we go on Steam" and then backpedaling on it for various reasons. In these specific cases, I don't have a lot of sympathy.

I don't think being in a bundle should automatically translate into a Steamkey, but if the Dev or the bundle explicitely states otherwise, they need to stick to their word. In the latest case of Stained, the Dev did say he'd hand out keys to everyone in that bundle and only gave up when he realized that sending those manually was not a good idea.

If nothing else, I'd say the Humble Flash Bundle is already worth it for the opening song of The Wonderful End of the World.

I know a few but most people are just sensible enough to mail the keys out so they don't really spill out much into Steam-o-geddon and I know it sounds shifty but it's not like *most* devs make a thing of it so it all kinda goes on unawares. It's why I'd really like to see more people come out and talk about where we're at with bundles now.

But of those that have gone the full Steamsplosion, I think it was Zombies that found itself with the promise being added to the page long after the sale, so nothing was agreed out the gate then people pulled up the page with the promise on but that was never agreed?

The only other public one I can think of was Explodemon from Curve where they absolutely did not sign anything or promise keys for any of the bundles. They handed keys over without any real fuss or argument but still, without any promises it was expected. I suspect there's similar tales in a lot of Steam forums that never leak out, I know there's definitely talk of them "behind closed doors" so to speak.

To be honest, I think at this point it's just best if -everyone- assumes that if you bundle early, you're throwing a Steam key out later. If only because it might make some people reconsider bundling early.

Bundlestars has an Aracania and Gothic Bundle up for €12.49. It was on sale for the same price on Steam back in March. Anyone know if the games are any good?
