Shame it's Desura only or I'd have had off with that because Along With A Spider *is* great.

Poor Desura. Not even indie devs want play games through you.

What is there to say against Desura, i find it to be a pretty lightweight client, and it manages a lot of very small indie games that I might not bother installing separately. Also, if I'm not mistaken, they offer drm-free downloads for games you own, that don't use the desura client (or is that only for select titles?)

Any game purchased through Desura can be run independently of it. The client is only needed for installation and patching. It has mod support for any title that has mods uploaded to ModDB. Would be cool to see the crews behind Desura and Evolve join forces as the latter has a few features such as in-game overlay, chat (voip/sip?) and browser support that Desura is lacking (maybe more?).

Nowt against the client, it's fine. Just a political objection when the last time I looked into it they had a minimum payout clause in the contracts that a lot of devs won't reach.

I'm pretty sure I came across that in a blog post from (and I may be wrong here) Puppygames - who said they'd never actually received any money from them at all.

Min payments are fine so long as you get the money 'eventually' - the sort where you never get it are outright dishonest.

The Desura client is actually OK - with a bit of a reorg and a proper search function it would be better than Steam, everything is where you expect it to be with updates from developers, demos, forums etc. all easily accessed from the games page.

(now where did I hear about this game?)

Nope, I mentioned the IndieBundle.org bundles a few times and I got the feeling there wasn't much interest, maybe a combination of obscure games and lack of Steam keys? They're welcome of course.

I think there was an article about it on RPS.

    EDIT: Yep.

Hmm, might sit this one out then. That doesn't sound too encouraging.

Grabbed Stardrone from the last one though, been meaning to give that a go for a while now but never got round to it so I guess I just ran out of excuses there.

You should try the demo. Many of the complaints have been addressed; it's possible to control how much you rewind time, there's a key to show you the goal, and the demo does not throw you to level select.
Rotating is a bit slow and jumping may be a bit too floaty (have been mostly fine for me).

There's probably a lesson here, something about keeping demos updated and no second chance to make a first impression but I'll let everyone draw their own conclusions.

Is the minimum payout clause used by Desura a recent thing, or just included in some contracts or something? When Pineapple Smash Crew came out the dev told me he'd get more money if I bought it from Desura rather than Steam.
    ...common and uninteresting.

It's been there a while from what I remember. It wasn't a great amount from what I recall but it wasn't a trivial amount either for a lot of people who'd end up on the service.

I believe you could push to get a payment regardless if you need to but that really shouldn't be the case in 2013.

Well, this Groupees picked my interest. Have some questions, though. Is Patrician IV as good as III? I remember playing it and having quite a good time when I was a kid. Also, is Blood Bowl worth it if I'm not going to play multiplayer? I haven't really heard much about the other games. :-/

Blood Bowl is multiplayer only - to all intents and purposes??

TO qualify that, the single player is remorseless and relentless in it's lack of balance, cheating and all round twattery - there's pretty much no reason any sane person would play it.

    IMO of course
