'The Banner Saga' Kickstarter "will go up on Monday."
After reading from various sources that Stoic Studios would be having a Kickstarter to fund development for 'the Banner Saga,' I wondered when it would begin. So today I asked them through their Facebook to which they said it "will go up Monday." (http://on.fb.me/FOLlRm)
Figured I'd spread the news, pretty excited about this myself.

A good interview here
To what extent is The Banner Saga a strategy game and to what extent is it a role-playing game? Where do you see the line between the two genres?
AT: For the most part, I've always seen rpgs as always being a pretty equal mix of combat and role-playing. If you look back at games that we have nostalgia for like Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Bard's Tale; any of the classics, they had a pretty even ratio of adventuring to fighting. We wanted to get that same feel but have a more strategic combat system. Our travel system (the scenes from the video where a caravan moves across a landscape) is gameplay, and an extension of adventuring. During travel events will happen, sometimes leading to dialogue, and the decisions you make can come back and change things in the future, but can also bleed into what happens during combat. Picking up a band of warriors in your caravan can affect what happens in a fight. We're shooting for a balanced amount of travel, events and combat.
Edit: The only thing that scares me a bit is the mention of "Chapters". Haven't we all been burned by episodic games in the past?

I pledged $110...
Digital art book, soundtrack, family crest added to the game, t-shirt and signed poster. I couldn't resist.
I've put big pledges (for me) in for this and Double Fine because of the rewards. I've gone with low pledges for FTL and Wasteland. I'm not sure how many more of these my wallet can take. At least I'll be very happy in a year or so!

Bumping this because the game is out.
Well, rather a f2p competitive multiplayer early version of the game is out.
...and it's fucking awesome.

looks beautiful, and my first two games have been very educational. As a complete whimp at tactics, I appreciate that you get renown for losses as well.
And I absolutely love the visuals and the 'health is damage' mechanic, though I haven't fully grasped its strategic implications.

Hopefully they're getting the server kinks worked out. I think the game might have been more popular than they expected. I tried to play a couple of times yesterday but couldn't log in. There was some sort of update last night. I don't know if software is the problem or they just need more servers.
