Kickstarter destined to fail.
You mean the site?
The fan-funded method seems to be working
See Wasteland 2 for instance
Well, it works for established industry luminaries and for well-known franchises. It remains to be seen if it can work for normals.
At this stage the RPG parody seems as dated as the games they tend to make fun of.
1. I have no idea who the person is.
2. This person is asking for $300k.
3. I have no idea who this person is and they are asking for $300k.
It wouldn't even be bad if they were a minor bit player, but every other one has an established studio that people know if not trust.
I don't know. In a lot of ways, Planescape Torment and KotOR2 were RPG parodies. But they had more meat behind them.

"I was one of those. I meddled with dark powers. I summoned demons. I ate the entire little cheese, including the rind."

It's managed $20.
I looks like the sort of game I see on Steam and think "cba, it wants to be funny, how tiresome is that gonna get?" , besides I already have Dungeons of Dredmore.
It boggles my mind that this project is seriously asking for 300,000 dollars.
This is clearly the best Kickstarter project.
I don't mean to be rude. But have you seen the game's webpage? Seems like it emerged from the depths of geocities. It even has a pageview counter.
Also it boggles my mind that I can't find a single in game screenshot.
I knew something about that image disgusted me at the basest of levels - I thought it was the generally amateurish look, but I think it was the comic sans that pushed it over the edge.
I couldn't be bothered wading through all those cutesy words, but do these guys actually have any experience making (as in completing) games? It's like they put in a whole bunch of work and then went "making games is hard". Now, normally this is where they would give up, but this new-fangled Kickstarter thing is taking off... And here we are.
weekendwarrio.rs - We've got more games than time...
I got an email from an international conference I'm attending that included Comic Sans. I was tempted to withdraw my paper in protest.
Irrelevant on further examination of the rest of the thread.
