I was wondering if I could resist the Beta...with a date that close, I'm pretty sure I'll manage. Now, if only I could be greedy and hope Planetside 2 releases before the end of the world...

EDIT: In the same announcement (link), they also said the next BWE will be the weekend of July 20th. So there is (at least) one more BWE coming too!
Of all the Beta-weekends/-events that have taken place so far, I managed to play the game on one of them. The others were blocked by having guests around the house or visiting other people. So I haven't made much use of the game time I paid for. I also found myself restarting with several characters to test out the different classes. It was nice to mess around a bit, but I never got further than the starting town. My characters all stayed well below level 10 during that time.
I want to see what feels nicer between asura and slyvari sometime if I'm able, having tried out most things I'm fairly sure my first profession will be a warrior.

Hello everybody! Long time lurker... finally managed to click the register button and join this fine community you've got going here.
Are there any updates on which is going to be the world of choice? I suppose that now with the release date people are going to reshuffle and make a decision where they're going to play. What's the plan?
The Release build should be separate from the BWE so we should be able to wait for a new server list and pick from scratch.
During the beta we were on Desolation and it turned out to be a very heavily populated server, which was less than ideal for getting people on the same shard.
Great for WvW and WvW bonuses though.
Maybe, but bear in mind we've yet to see Desolation matched up against a server of equal ability.
I will move wherever our guild wants to go, regardless. There were a few new servers with nice norn-inspired names in BWE2
We should keep an eye on server loads in the next BWE, it's as good an indicator as we can hope for really. Every one of those servers is going to be packed at launch. :/
I'm desperatetly looking forward to this but at the same time I know how horrific mmo launches can be, I kinda hoped they would be doing a longer staggered early access period like wot Star Wars did.
I was thinking about this yesterday, although Guilds do seem to work cross server it would seem more sensible to form a separate NA based guild. Any takers for sorting that out?

Welcome! I certainly expect a lot of reshuffling, likewise I suspect a certain contingent to flock to Desolation on the basis we steamrolled the opposition.
I'm kinda hoping they re-post the world results again as I'm interested see if we're still undefeated as there was one period in BWE2 where I'm not 100% certain we won the match-up
As to decisions on where to go, that will definitely wait until after BWE3, so until that time Desolation remains the EU destination of choice
I don't believe the server list will change but as you say, everyone's home server will be reset.
As to getting everyone on the same server, clearly that's a priority however, as Screwie mentions, I expect that in the first few weeks most servers will be full/max and there's going to be a lot a of playing on overflow. Once the initial excitement dies down I expect most places will open up
Yeah, very much so. For those unaware, despite annoucing the BWE1 results we were not matched to the other undeafeated servers, instead we got matched to two brand new worlds. As such they were still playing the tutorial while we were "in their base, killin' d00dz"
I think and fully expect the overflow servers to work magnificently compared to the stupidity of the SWTOR release :/

With the announcement of the release date my brain has kicked into full-on obsessive compulsive organisation mode so you can expect some more stuff from me over the coming weeks.
In the meantime I'll just mention these two bits
1) I'll be looking for someone to advise/oversee the WvW / Structured PvP side of things. So if you think that's where you'll be spending most of your time, PM me.
While I fully intend to play plenty of WvW I tend to err toward PvE and have almost zero interest in Structured PvP. As such I need someone to represent their interests (such as moaning why I'm not researching the Art of War upgrades) as well as someone who's happy to sort mass get togethers in WvW or structured PvP teams
On the flip side I, and other members of the higher level dream team (;P), will be happy to take peeps through dungeon content which they might not otherwise see. As I realise there's still a proportion of people out there unwilling or unable to PUG.
2) Re Server choice, while I intend to wait until after BWE3 (unless of course everyone moves to start picking servers before then) I will say I've grown quite fond of Desolation, I like that we have a strong PvP crowd and I think we need to ensure we don't end up being lumped on one of the terrible servers for fear that WvW will become a no go zone.
As ever I am open to suggestions though so any thoughts on other destinations and communities you'd like to be paired up with, let me know.
