No RPS April 1st posts? :(

Damn, I loved the stuff RPS did on this day. Or maybe not having anything on this day is the joke?

Personally I despise it, when people pre date April's fools messages so they look a week old and never point out they are pretending to afterwards? Sometimes a stupid lie is a stupid lie.
I'm failing to writing a blog, specifically about playing games the wrong way

Sometimes being silly is okay, y'know? Not every joke need be a personal affront.

No, absolutely. I just laughed out loud at the April first skit for Rock of Ages (Block of Ages today) let's just say cubes are not ideal battering boulders, but so much of it is pretty pathetic. I can tolerate the actually funny stuff.

I liked the Google Maps thing a lot more when I stumbled into it this morning and thought it was an actual fun mode they'd added on a whim rather than a mandatory april foolio. Well I suppose it's still quite fun.

I guess there's nothing today because it's Sunday.

I'm in the angry old man category, so the less there is of this, the better.

Plus it's an excuse for your jokes to be completely terrible. It's an offense to comedy, it is.

    For me,
April first as an excuse for jokes: great! They still need to be good jokes, though.
April first as an excuse for lying or being mean: rubbish.

As far as I remember, yes.
e.g. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2010...n-age-7%C2%BC/ (iirc, the context was that RPS had gone back in time for the day, so the other guys had been posting previews of 1995 games or whatever)
I might be making this up, but I think at least one RPSer (John?) has expressed disdain for the rubbish kind of April Fools 'joke'.

Yeah, John has a good old complain every April Fools' day. I dislike the "lol im pragnent NO IM NOT APRIL FOOLS!" type of 'joke', but well-planned and well-executed ones are fun.

That Quinns piece I linked to is excellent, by the way! April first 2010 is currently here: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/page/628/ , though it'll slip further back as new stuff gets posted.

I'm for fooling people, not just jokes. Make jokes whenever you think of funny ones. April the first is for making silly people looking sillier. Spaghetti trees and all that, adverts for San Serif.

just like when takei posted that he was doing a star trek movie about Excelsior... I cried when I heard it was a joke (not really)
