    FTL and Binding of Isaac.

Waiting on XCOM to unlock (still, but also I'm waiting for it to finish downloading, stupid slow Australian internet), and I'm waiting to receive a copy of Cortex Command that I won on Steam Gifts. Yay!

(Oh god, so many games. Need to quit my job to play them all.)

I'm just sayin', bro. I haven't got into Thief yet, to be honest. But I hear a lot of people liking Thief as the best stealth.

I get that now. No world domination for La France this time. I'll just make sure to have those 6 provinces with the 6th being the required one.
It's just strange that Napoleon is to Empire kind of like Dawn of War 2 is to DoW 1. At least in these specific campaigns. I imagine the other types could be more traditional and am looking forward to giving them a shot.

Played a bunch of X-Com and had a blast with my leveled crew until I got to the mission where you need to save civilians from those face ripping aliens and a couple uncareful moves got my whole crew slaughtered. The whole world in chaos, everyone leaving the council and no money for satellites or new crew.

Also finished The Walking Dead Episode 4.

My computer is staying in a box for some time...

I play a bit of GW2 on my father's iMac (don't hit me ! ) I dropped my asuran warrior for a norn thief. The gameplay is more varied and utilities actually add something to the gameplay.

I also finished Gravity rush on the vita and I am currently fighting The End in Metal gear solid HD.

I'm not even disagreeing (I played thief too young to really *get* it), but such unblinking loyalty held halflife at the top of the 'best game ever' charts for far too long.

I think thief has the best stealth because it feels, to an extent, like stealth is the aim. Chaos theory has the second best stealth gameplay I've seen (and I've played a lot of games based around being a sneaky bugger) but if I messed up sneaking in DXHR I just shot the guys that saw me. In SC:Conviction it was just about getting a good position to shoot people from. In no game but the thief games do I feel that darkness and silence are the only tools by which I achieve my aims. In all the others I feel that they're often-useful tools to complement my overwhelming firepower and relative fragility. That, I think, makes more the difference than necessarily the implementation of the mechanics. (if we were just going by that, Chaos Theory wins hands down. Little like timing a loud sprint across a gantry to the rumble of thunder overhead to cover your noise.)

I just shot people in the head with arrows when I played thief.

Also I got quite competent killing soldiers on stairs with the sword.

Whilst you can kill people in thief, if you play it on harder difficulties, you just fail the mission. On normal difficulty, however, you can hardly argue that it's a particularly convenient approach. The 'crosshair' for your arrows is always huge, and luring guards onto stairs is situational at best. In any of the other games I mentioned you just take out any of your myriad weapons and just click on the guy, suffering no penalty for it whatever. I'm not saying you can't do it, but the game certainly isn't trying to help you out. It's an 'if you must' resort.

I think what Serengoose is saying, Helio, is that you're doing it wrong.

I think the difference with Thief II (I m playing it now along with Dishonoured) is that in Thief fighting is not really an option. If you get discovered you have to run and hide or depend on some gadget like the flashbomb, otherwise 99% you are dead.

In DX:HR and Dishonoured you can still fight. Having said that, I don't survive a fight with more than one guard in Dishonoured so far.

Pardon? I don't think I was saying anything of the sort. I was simply arguing that just because you can (under certain circumstances) kill people in thief, it in no way feels as part of the intended experience as it does in games like DXHR or even the earlier Splinter Cell games, which is what, in my opinion (I really didn't know that I was presumed to be speaking objectively unless I take pains to say this) differentiates it from other stealth games. Helio can noclip through the walls and smite down the mechanists with an instant gib leethax broadsword for all I care.

To be honest they sort of followed me. Crazy I know. In my defence I was like 11 when I played thief. Also

Yes, but you can't have a map.

On Chaos Theory, DXHR and even Thief being over equipped is not justification for ruining the game for yourself, I have melee only/ghosted both chaos theory and dxhr where possible(my dxhr ghost run did not use cloak except saving the pilot) .
I played the majority on Bioshock 2 slipping from cover to cover and stealth killing with a melee attack.
Not the usual experience I think you'll agree.
