considering I keep starting the Witcher and dropping it mid way through act 3 or 4, that may be a smart idea.

Finished Legacy of Kain: Defiance and, despite its rough beginnings (and crap camera) its a great reminder of how well written / scripted / acted this series was. Cant think of any unlikable characters despite pretty much everyone being a dick. Shame the series is now dead.

DaftPunk mentioned in the Tomb raider thread, that devs of the new TR are going to remake/revive Legacy of Kain. Don't know how true it is though.

Funnily enough the new TR game would be a pretty good Blood Omen game. Not enough puzzles for a Soul Reaver game though.

Legacy of Kain needs to be finished before any of the amazing voice actors dies.

Been playing Kingdoms of Amalur over the last few days. Not earth shatteringly brilliant but I'm having fun with it. Easily worth the four quid it cost me anyway.

I hear somewhere about a year ago that Legacy of Kain remake is planned. So I choose to believe it is happening.

Played Banner Saga: Factions almost exclusively for the past two weeks.
Great turn based game, matches are about 20 minutes long and it ain't that hard to get all the units you want.

Though some people say it is "pay to win" because you can speed up the process. But I am doing perfectly fine without spending a dime. Already 20 hours on it.

Maybe it's the mod, but the description for those charms tells me they're just folk superstition and they don't work. Regardless, the monster encounters seem to scale to my level; I haven't seen a Drowner in the swamp for (in-game) weeks, the sewers are downright deserted of monsters, and I've already exterminated the entire population of Drowned Dead, which left me without enough tongues to complete Siegfried's quest. So yeah, it's realistic, but inconvenient.

Guess what? F1 gives you an isometric perspective, complete with click-to-move. The game even asks you which of the two you want to use when starting a new game.

If by 'lying around' you mean 'stored in cupboards in people's houses', then yes. :-P Sometimes book sellers refuse to buy their books back, but then you can just go to another book seller or a general merchant. I only buy books that describe monsters, because I'm already overflowing with alchemical ingredients and I don't need to buy a book that says how to gather Han too.

Incidentally, anyone know what I can do with the golem's obsidian heart?
Apologies, I missed that you were playing a mod. It's not Combat rebalance is it? It would fit most of the above. I think it's an excellent mod but it makes some bits exceptionally hard. There is however an extensive manual available for it which might help here.

Of course if it's not that mod then the above is irrelevant in spite of it's eloquent brilliance.

What do you mean? Looting houses and stealing NPCs blind has been a staple of RPG games ever since ye olde days!

if you're not doing it, you're playing it wrong :P

Like most (all?) of bosses' drops, it's used for a potion. If you're missing the formula, look here: http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Golem%27s_Pith_(scroll)

I also have to absolutely deny the pay-to-win claim. The only thing that money gives you, is some different skins and in-game experience (renown). You can easily put in the 5-8 hours it takes to level up a whole team yourself. It's a great game, I'm just hoping that they will integrate the full game into the f2p somehow, and not split the community.

Question for you Tormenters: do the critters under the Clerk's Ward respawn? It seems no matter how many I kill there are more and more of them. I'm currently stuck quest-wise and think I need to get through a door in that area, but the buggers keep offing me. It is starting to become enough of a pain to cause me to consider stopping playing, which is a shame as I really like the game so far.

I'm running the following mods if it makes a difference:

    Bigg's Widescreen
    Ghostdog's incredible UI
    Utimate Fixpack
    Unfinished Business
    Tweaks pack

Please keep responses spoiler free if possible as I really do want to continue this great game.

No reason to go to Undersigil apart from getting XP and some loot if you need it. Things respawn and there's nothing of worth. Where are you stuck? I can try and give a hint without revealing much if you like.

More Might & Magic 8. I raided an ogre fortress, de-flooded an underground minotaur city and after getting my ass kicked in an attempt to destroy a dark dwarf mine, I traveled to Shadowspire, the necromancer city to teach my own necromancer and my vampire some new tricks. Meanwhile I also managed to find a legendary sword...in a tree.

A bit melodramatic, but with that monstrosity of a sword Lady Anthile outperforms everyone else dramatically.

Also, despite the incredibly outdated graphics (it came out in 2000) the game has a really good soundtrack.

I'm trying to find out more about Ravel. Mebbeth dropped a hint about talking to someone in the Fest Hall, but no joy there. I've spoken with everyone there including giving Mertwyn his head. Currently Annah is pissed off at me in the quarters area, by the door in my room I can't get through.

I think I've hit some quest-breaking bugs that may be stopping my progress. Merriman's memory quest: I acquired the river water but now it's not in my inventory? Another weird thing happened with delivering the box to Brasken: somehow the box was opened in my inventory but I don't recall doing that yet still have the quest.

I used the exact mod setup you did so bugs should be minimized. Don't you have Annah with you? She had to have led you to the Wards in the first place. I don't think she's needed technically, but you'll be missing out on a great character and the voice of Sheena Easton.

My advice on learning about Ravel would be to make sure you've been round the Public and Private Sensoriums, and spend some time Slaking your Intellectual Lusts.

Merriman's memory quest involves (frost jug jug and Dark Birds exhibit), check all parts of your and companions inventory but it could well be a bug.

Brasken's box: did the box disappear at some point, or have you had to fight anything regarding the box? The quest stays there for a while I think as it can appear later on in the game.

Annah went hostile on me after I got friendly with Grace. I'm thinking maybe a Friends or similar spell could calm her down, but since she's not actively attacking me I can worry about her later.

I'm trying to suss out the shenanigans going on at the whorehouse but have only heard gossip, essentially. Perhaps the basement? I poked about but nothing struck me as important.

    Private Sensoriums? Hmm...

I'll snoop around some more as it seems I just haven't played close enough attention thus far. Thanks!

The critters do indeed respawn and at the moment there's nothing interesting down there. Near the end of your journey a new monster spawns in Undersigil, which drops some of the best equipment in the game. Not that you really need it by this point.

Oh, I know, I was just being a smartarse.

Looks like Kalkstein never gave me the formula. I'm glad the game allows you to brew potions manually too. I also happened to chance upon the formula for Argentia.

Took a break from playing Brogue after dying before even getting to the 10th level and played Mother 3. A brilliant game which lets you throw a banana peel to a tank only to see it slip violently and take damage. Now on the fourth chapter and just started playing as Lucas.

Question for those who’ve played the NV DLC-when’s the best time to do it? It feels abit odd running off for a jolly to Utah while the fate of the Mojave is in the balance.

Did you just make a save at a certain point and go back to it later? Can you start a new game at the appropriate level and just run off and do the content?

I played it for the first time during my JE Sawyer mod run, so my levels were a bit depressed. Honest Hearts is fine for level 10, Dead Money can be done as soon as possible (I didn't really like it), Old World Blues is relatively late game (but you're kidnapped, so it's cool from an RP standard), and Lonesome Road can even act as an alternate ending, so that one works as late as possible.

From best to worst the mods go, Old World Blues (by far), Lonesome Road, Honest Hearts, and then Dead Money. I would say Old World Blues is the only unskippable one, it's downright hilarious with a bunch of really cool environments. Lonesome Road is a fine piece of Avellone writing, but it's delivered through a several hours long dungeon run, albeit with cool setpieces. Dead Money attempts to be a neat casino robbery story, but it never really comes together. Lonesome Road gets the exploring aspect of the game and the environment is well-crafted, but the tribes feel more like set-pieces than distinct groups.
