Yeah, I think the big issue with GW2's crafting is that we all just grind it at random points. SO almost all equipment is pointless because by the time you grind for it, you have better picked up loot.
Cooking is useful, but the vast majority of it seems useless for the exact same reason. For one of my alts I am making a point to level crafting (cooking, to be specific) alongside my normal gameplay and it is definitely realy fun to get a new effectively permanent boost every few levels.

Edit: Ah, lazy me. Sticky thread on the GOG forums has every bit of information I was looking for.

High Quality Soundtrack mod, which does exactly what you'd expect.

How is it we cannot work-out a crafting system which just adds something to your character without
a - taking loads of time
b - costing a fortune
c - making things which are largely useless
Would it be so hard just to say
Choose skills relating to you, your weapons and/or your armour in terms of making it and improving it.
Cooking is self-improving (buffs)
Weaponmaking makes weapons and improvements for those weapons (stat bonuses)
Armourmaking is the same for wearables
Inscription/Enchantment improves armour and/or weapons
You'd limited by level or other factors as to how much/how well you could do with those things - a well designed skill with sensible mat demands would remove the need to limit the totla number tho
Most importantly, your crafting should improve something about YOUR gear or make ever better resaleables - customised pieces designed for specialist roles. That way levelling crafting goes alongside levelling yourself and makes the effort more worthwhile than
"Make 200 of these and throw them away"

I've been playing Avernum. It's an awesome RPG that absolutely nails the feeling of exploration.

Playing Defiance at the moment. A MMO third person shooter which is frankly said quite "meh" but it keeps me coming back.
The quests are repetitive, the story is unintriguing, the UI is obviously designed for consoles but I can go with it.
I hate that the enemies become bullet sponges when there are too many players in the same fighting area, though overall the combat is quite solid and enjoyable.

On frint pages recommendation I gave Good Morning Commander a try. Ran out of steam a way through. I liked the atmosphere and the pace, but there really is no direction. That may not be a BAD thing, but after 45mins it definately wasn’t MY thing.
Moved up a division in the Frozen Synapse league :D Although that might be because a bunch of new people joined... I'm definatley getting better though! Even winning a few multiplayer games now. Playing online really makes the single player missions seems easy. I've just past the levels with the MENTAL rocket prototypes!
Might delve back inot Richard and Alice after a sandwich.

Anyway! Been dividing my gaming time between Age of Empires II HD and a renewed interest in World of Warcraft!"He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to
the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free". ~ Luke 4:18

ME2 is easily my favourite game in the series, and could only be improved by adding the ME3 combat gameplay in, although it's own is still pretty damn good.

I have finally reached the Underdark in BG2. only sixty hours or so but the infamous caverns of evil are wide open for me to plunder and slaughter my way through countless beings who just had bad luck of being in a wrong place at a wrong time.
