Risen was incredible fun, but a very flawed game. Also, for the sake of repeating myself, read Alec's diary of Risen!

Still, Risen is fun at the beginning, but loses a lot of the fun very, very fast. The Witcher is the complete opposite and I was sad to hear you weren't able to push through the (admittedly very) annoying parts. Play with a playthrough or something, but try to power through the first game and then move on to the second, it's worth it.

I haven't played the second yet, but I thought the first gave about 15 to 20 hours of quality Gothic style fun, and then maybe 15 of pointless drudging. Basically whenever you get done with the village and the immediate area around it. They also neglected to change things when the plot progresses, which really hammers in the point that the exploration part of the game is pretty much over. A large part of me wishes they had considerably narrowed their scope.

Also, the plot walls were just a bad decision. Half the fun of a piranha bytes game is getting around horrible monsters. I'm really interest to hear how Risen 2 turns out. (And I really wish I had the money for the Steam sale the other day).

Mark of the Ninja which I've just finished. Bring on NG+.

Also worryingly addicted to FIFA13 career mode. (Managing both Roma and Argentina at the moment)

Next in the gaming schedule is either Shogun 2, and/or Fallout: New Vegas.
I'm also concurrently planning an achievement run in Dark Souls and attempting to get back into Skyrim. I need more hours in the day. (And less work in the day)

So far I've lost Morte, Dak'kon and Annah. Morte perished in an alley brawl while Dak'kon succumbed to cranium rats. Annah turned hostile when I demanded the return on my equipment after she left my party because of Grace. Thankfully Grace and Ignus are more than powerful enough to get me through these larval worms. It's just too bad so much good equipment was lost along with my fallen comrades. Still, I struggle on to find out what can change the nature of a man.

You know it's kind of incongruous to roleplay a Death Is Permanent type game in a world where you are specifically given a Raise Dead power due to your zombieness. Torment almost goes out of it's way to show you that death isn't the end, unless you're one o them damn Dusties.

Only if you let yourself die, some people reload too fast ^_^

Completed Waking Mars to 100%, I was a little disappointed non of the endings were an informed choice, but for what its worth the "special" one feels right, even if your friends response to it was weak sauce.

    Right... What's next.

I'd gone back to playing a bit of Need for Speed: The Run online, it used to be fun but as everyone playing that is now Level 30 and has all the best cars, you can't compete without at least some of the NFS Edition cars so I thought I'd unlock a few.

Except the 2 cars which would allow me to progress are locked, in turn, behind

1 - a Autolog recommendation which is impossible with my current car list
2 - a multiplayer requirement which is impossible with my current car list

The best I can do for the first is 3-4 seconds short and I'm flat-out the whole way - the other requirement is to win a Series which is impossible without at least one of the NFS Edition cars and that's locked - you guessed it - behind the other one...

So well done there Black Box - seriously, you have a recommendation system which gives ONE recommendation at a time and you don't think that might just walk someone into a dead end?

I'm so glad I paid nowt for it (Coke Zone tokens for the win!)

After I'd cursed their developers with endless cancers I moved on to Driver SF but it's multiplayer is deader than the German predicting octopus - at this rate I'll have to play NFS:HP or Burnout online (and I think I'd rather hammer my dick in a drawer)

After being all like 'urgh Far Cry 3', I spent a couple of hours today doing all the hunts and bounties. I'm glad it didn't take all that long because it was actually quite repetitive and dull, yet I still did them all.

Then I spent some time wondering about what to play next (oh yeah, I finished Analogue: A Hate Story... Very, very dark, at least the ending I played towards was), decided I wanted something fast and short, then I, well, I started Myst again. That game is just way too smart for me, but it was one of the first games I ever played so I'm quite attached to it.

After my ragequit from Torchlight 2 I deided to finally get around to finishing the continent in A Valley Without Wind (and considering playing the sequel). Was okay, but I found that I basically ran into a wall after killing the last lieutenant. Survivors were WAY too weak/angry to go weaken the Overlord and I didn't want to spend hours grinding for gifts. So I turned down difficulty so that I wouldn't have to do that crap and went to fight the Overlord.

Said fight was okay, but nothing special. Mostly boiled down to getting the right spell-type (he was strong agaisnt Light. I used Light for everything else :p). Did find his seeking fire to be VERY cheap, but the arena was set up for me to hide behind a wall until they burned themselves out. So tedious, but not challenging.

Watching a let's play of the sequel to see if I want to give that a shot.

Ah - the Sunday mindset game jag - I've missed that for the last few years but Sundays used to be my "just sit and play something - ANYTHING - and slog-on mindlessly" :)

I once completed Luigi's Mansion start-to-end in a single Sunday afternoon sitting - I once Levelled a WoW character 0-40 in a Sunday too (obviously not in vanilla - possibly not TBC either but my memory is hazy on that)

Breaks balance a bit but makes things feel more complete. And seeing as it's easy enough to solo the game with a half decent character build, balance isn't really there to begin with.

    * - put a number here, 5 should be fine (might need to be in square brackets [])
*** - just type in the name of whoever is the person not in your party, eg. okku)
True 'nuff about the soloing. My build's so overpowered - nine attacks per round - that I technically don't have to stop walking while I fight. Thankfully, this console cheating isn't killing the game - everybody still reacts normally.

Posted from my other home (they didnt help)

I am considering starting a new New Vegas game. Two types of characters are in mind.

A nice girl who helps out alot and is a melee and energy specialist with has the intent of joining and helping the NCR (mainly to be cool with Boone. He is the shit)

    OR

A grumpy depressed male who is a conventional weapon user (So I can play with the Panaciea (sp?)) and wants to join the Legion and be a badass.

The first option will be easiest as I usually default to being nice, but the 2nd option may be more fun.

Shout down my choices now! Also, you who are experts tell me what perks etc lend themself well to the two different styles. Is melee and energy a good choice? Should the Legion be melee? Mainly I just wanted those two attitudes and the weapon choices could be up for discussion. I also tend toward repair and speech, but lockpicking could be an option too. WHAT TO CHOOSE?!

On reflection, the first is wanting to have Boone help watch my back as I drive closer to hit them with my sword and the other is actually BEING Boone.

Any info would be helpful, seeing as alot of you play NV. Also, if you could PM the info to me so I dont have to check here and bloat this thread that would be awesome.

    Thanks!

I made a terrible error in picking up Dungeon Raid for the Pad of Eyes. It's the most compulsive thing I've played in ages. I seem to have a real thing for puzzley RPG type things, and this one is perhaps up there with Puzzle Quest and Clash of Heroes. It seems simple at first, but it has this three layered, complex system of upgrades you earn as you play, which makes experimenting a joy and fans that one-more-go feeling into an inferno. I'm tempted to buy it again for my Android phone, because I like it that much.

What? PC site? I know that, stop being Mr. Grumbleton-Pants. I got Fallen Enchantress in the recent sale. It's not a game that works very hard at teaching you how to play, so I'm still in that experimental phase of restarting a bunch of games to work stuff out.

I recently played Risen 2 and quit after about 8 hours. It's a game with a huge potential to be a memorable RPG, but unfortunately it seems like it was released too soon and almost everything about it is all over the place.

    Here's Alec's WIT.
