@ the cs one, at least in cs it was significantly much harder to hit people (since you couldn't just keep on spraying if your first bullet missed with an assault rifle).
But yeah, back then cs was the casual call of duty of its time compared to ut/quake, and now cod is the casual retard alternative to cs... maybe in another 10 years there will be an even sadder game that is the casual version of cod :p
Again it's hardly fair to compare this to the cod videos though... if cs was like playing darts then cod is pin the tail on the donkey in comparison.
Cs was what the dudebros in my highschool played back then, the ones who were too slow witted for UT/QUAKE (though they were pretty awful at cs too).

CS was serious buisness once. People were killed over CS lan games.

Well, the game was faster paced. And it has less of those awful, awful, awful pop-up messages crowding the screen. But what made those games tougher and more interesting to me was the often more intimate player competition. Some of them were also more cleverly designed and inherently skill-oriented but I really think the community defined that more than the mechanics did. The mechanics didn't define much at all. The game was simpler and it was faster. That doesn't make it better or that video something other than ridiculously self-congratulatory. 12 minutes? Really?
