Kurt Sutter has hinted that Walton Goggins may return as Venus Van Dam in Sons Of Anarchy season six, which should start airing in September.

How he'll be able to top that performance I cannot imagine.

At this point he could just hire the whole cast of The Shield. Not that I would mind.

That's the greatest thing in over twenty years.

I'm gonna have to pick up SoA again, just for Goggins.

Got through episodes 4 and 5 earlier. So, it's still really super easy to watch and enjoy, but I'm barely laughing at all. The porn awards one got a few chuckles, but I'm not laughing as much as I expect to from a show billed as a comedy. Anywhere near as much. Lizzy Caplan and the guy who plays Henry certainly steal the lime-light.

Knocked down episode five of Orphan Black too. Again, this show has no right to be anywhere near as good as it is, but it does have me sitting there tense just wondering what on earth else can go wrong. And it turns out everything (I peg Sarah and the gang's fortunes somewhere just above the Farscape crew). And it's not even like the twists are ridiculous when you start to think about it, but the way they play them out through the characters is done superbly. Obviously there's some element of suspension of disbelief, but I'm finding it not at all hard to do that with this show. Tatiana Maslany is exceptional in it.

Ploughed through the first season of 'Hannibal', which is rather bizarrely produced by Bryan fuller the guy who produced pushing daises.

The premise is interesting enough. Gifted but troubled personality profiler co-opted by the FBI to help them get a lead on serial killers but fatefully assigned Hannibal Lecter as his over watchful psychiatrist (as yet unmasked for his own nefariousness). But the show itself falls down this uneven rabbit hole of over arching mythology Vs contained narrative to the point of incestuousness. It's part soap opera, part procedural and part Dexter with higher production values, more gore and less morality. Mads Mikkelsen does a suitably reptilian turn as the ever impeccable Lecter, and Hugh Dancy is amiable enough as the witless profiler oblivious to the very threat sat listening to him, but it's hard to empathize with him as there's no real history to the man, and they make little effort to establish one.

Not entirely without merit, but no more required viewing than House was and lacking in any real sense of revelation.

I like Hannibal I don't think it is a case of the week show as it kind of feels those cases are increasingly perfunctory as the episodes go on. I feel this is definitely a more atmospheric show and it is completely beautiful in both cinematography and music score, it makes some of the victims in the show weirdly beautiful! It is very dream like and quite creepy and I quite like the characters since they seem very 3 dimensional and early on if it wasn't named Hannibal you really wouldn't of guessed Hannibal was a psychotic killer!

Well, that in itself is half the problem because the food stuff is all very knowing if you've seen the film or read the books.

I actually like its subtle, I've seen to many shows or movies that just rub it in your face that this guy is a killer and look how psychopathic this guy is. It makes the people around that don't spot it look dumb, and it makes the viewer feel dumb because tis only one note. I just like how you can see he is slowly manipulating people and then goes not full on but it becomes more obvious that he is the killer but still he is so good at hiding it doesn't make the characters dumb. Also I think it is showing subtly that maybe Will is slowly thinking that Hannibal might be slightly off but unfortunately because its his friend and because he's been a big help only his subconscious lets it out and he definitely doesn't want to think about it.

I mean a good comparison is Dexter...oh my god are those characters dumb!

Franklin and Bash is back as of a few weeks ago, and is a good fun light-hearted law drama. Worth it for Malcolm McDowell hamming it up playing a somewhat insane head of the law firm...

Just finished season one of Orphan Black.

    Jesus Christ.

So yeah, that's my review of season 1 of Orphan Black. You should all watch it. It'll be coming to BBC 3 at some point, so if you are happy to wait, definitely watch it then.

    But yeah, Jesus Christ.

(I find that the characters of OB share the same fate as those in Farscape; everything is terrible, but one small thing will come along, which is of course the sign that everything gets even more screwed than before!)

The Sopranos, Season 3. The head replacement thing they did with Livia is one of the weirdest things I've seen on DVD. I wonder who and how they came up with that.

The only show I've been watching religiously is Robert Irvine's Restaurant Impossible. I really love this show.

So I'm not saying that I've completely turned around my thoughts on Party Down, but okay, sure, I was a little bit harsh on it. I've seen it through and I'll definitely say that season 2 was much better, just generally in terms of laughs. I still don't really know how to bill the show though because as much as it is easy to call it a comedy, I think it'd set better with me as a light hearted drama. I know it's splitting hairs, but eh. Whatever, Adam Scott (Henry) and Lizzy Caplan (Casey) completely stole the show, although the others certainly had plenty of moments.

It's funny because just as I was about to start the last episode, I thought, "Hey, I wonder if we'll ever see what happens to...oh, look, there they are!" Great one to end on, all cylinders firing on ridiculous. And actually I was really taken back about the argument Casey and Henry had because she was completely right, but you could see it gently change throughout the season and especially in the Steve Guttenberg episode (which was amazing) what effect she was having on him so when at the end I, like Casey, was initially surprised where Henry was, but then the following scene made me think "You know, everything's going to work out." The relationship between those two characters was absolutely well delivered.

At the end I was left wanting more, but happy with what there was. I will say though there was no episode in its entire run that left me disappointed, I just guess a little confused initially when I was trying to work out exactly what it was. If there was more, would I watch it? Without a doubt.

Next up then is the last episode of Sherlock, which thanks to The Guardian spoiling me on its ending I've decided not to watch until I could try and forget the spoiler, but it's one of those impossible tasks and I've been at it for at least 18 months so screw it, I'm going to watch it anyhow and just like it. After that, it's Twin Peaks. Excitement inbound.

Anyhow, I want to get back to Orphan Black because that entry above is hardly useful. So it definitely improves as it goes along, with the first two episodes basically being a necessity (and certainly ajar to the rest of the run for obvious, but spoilery reasons). The characters are great, plot and depth fantastic and there's plenty of twists and turns and "Oh shit everything is going wrong." There's also some serious insanity that they channelled excellently and altogether, I was just impressed and left sitting in my chair going "Oh thank god it's over, I can finally breathe."

So yeah, Orphan Black is very silly, if only to counter the madness it contains within. It's a quirky show that's completely aware of itself and all the better for doing so.

Party Down is a great show. Is that movie ever coming out? I discovered the show three years ago and there was talk of it...
I'm debating which one is more uncomfortable to watch - Party Down or Seinfeld. I'm in the middle of Seinfeld series 5 and every episode I feel the need to pause it. It's fucking hilarious but the cringe factor is killing me. I just can't handle the tension and embarrassment.

In other news, Luther is over and I'm sad.

Well. Curb. Not holding my breath for any more Party Down.
