Right, yesterday started playing Alpha Protocol and got me thinking are there any games out there with worse AI? The game is fun to a point but not seen NPC's behave or not respond to this since pre patch STALKER or CS 1.4.

I hate side quests. If you can't be bothered to write a decent enough story to fill a game, then just hire a writer that can. Enough of these filler quests that really turn an interesting game into a grind.
Pretty much every game that has NPC allies tends to have these horrible AI moments... like, as in every escort mission ever.
In the longer term however, I have found out that I get most infuriated by the Total War strategic AI. Not necessarily because it's stupid per se, but because it seems to have this overriding line of code which makes every Total War game behave in the exactly same annoying manner:
IF is_controller(neighbour) = human;
THEN declare_war_on(neighbour);
The Assassins Creed games have a quite horrible AI. It's one of the worts I've ever seen. The enemies are downrigh retarded.
When it works, Far Cry's AI is brilliant. However, a lot of times it won't work, and they see through tents, or they'll stand still while you shoot them, or they'll run in circles, or they'll see you from what feels like a mile away, etc, etc.
The unpredictability of Far Cry's AI due to glitchiness made it annoying for me, arguably worse than AI that just doesn't work.
For whatever reason, the last patch Crytek released for Far Cry lets enemies see through buildings. Thankfully, there's an unofficial fanpatch which fixes that particular problem.
I know that Alpha Protocol's AI are a bunch of dumbasses but they ain't shit compared to the stupidity of the AI in Deus Ex.
I had this feeling that Ubisoft tend to make their AI a bunch of morons while being surprisingly smart at the same time. Weird...
Bah! My blog is fulla bollox! What? Don't believe me?Here! Just look at it!
The AI on Sniper Elite 2 is a bit suspect too. Oh look out comrades are all running down the middle of the street and getting picked of, let's follow them.

Yep, now you have up to 10 men surrounding him lol

Kingpin: Life of Crime takes the cake for me. The AI would sometimes runs around in tight circles when I fired at them. This would go on for ten minutes or so before I left the area. The entire game was a mess in fact.
The Medallion of the Imperial Psychopath, a Napoleon: Total War AAR
For the Emperor!, a Total War: Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai AAR
Every stealth game I've ever played. I get why this has to happen (since the idea of being completely screwed if you mess up a single time isn't very appealing), but it's utterly insane that if an enemy spots you in a stealth game, the best solution is usually to duck back into a vent for 30 seconds and wait for them to forget.
I know right here is a video called how Assassins Creed should have ended. It shows how truly unrealistic Assassins creed is.

Being Perfect is simple....
Just don't do anything ever and you should be good to go.
Gods and Generals. In fact, it's the only redeeming feature of the game.
ArmA has by far the worst AI I've ever seen. It's basically super-aggressive and super-accurate bots that see through grass, buildings and even mountains but without any sort of tactical awareness whatsoever. They have no concept of cover or danger or where to look or what stance to take, they run right into enemy fire or in front of you when you're firing, they prone and stare into walls, they fire small arms into tanks instead of running away, and don't even get me started on the driving skills, oh my god :despair: :cry:
How can no one have mentioned Daikatana? Superfly Johnson and Mikiko are the very worst of AI companions, getting stuck in doorways, jumping in front of your attacks, and plain ignoring commands because. On the other hand, they did give us this...

I'm failing to writing a blog, specifically about playing games the wrong way

The first mass effect is also a contender.
The squad ai was non functional (getting stuck on thin air, standing 1 foot away from cover, standing behind cover lost for what to do next) and the enemy AI also did nothing but shoot in your general direction and randomly stand up and duck.
Best UI is probably still ut 99 bots.
Cy Girls was also pretty bad, now that I remember it. It's no wonder they send like a whole army of goons after you within an hour of starting Ice's disk. Generally, they'd just stand still shooting at you until you killed them. And they didn't even do that effectively.
In regards to the Arkham games/Assassin's Creed style of fighting, I've never seen it done better than in Lugaru by Wolfire.
