Oops, THQ Won't Show Up in the Coming E3

    http://www.gamesindustry.biz/article...ve-an-e3-booth

I am so eager about Metro 2034, and probably most of you are interested in Darksider 2. I didn't play Darksider 1 so I dont really know how good it is. But I played Metro 2033, a very solid singleplayer with a good plot (which is for sure since it is adopted from an existing novel). I hope this won't further delay the delivery of Metro 2034, which was delayed already while it had been supposed to be released this year and now we know that it will not. Or 4A should start looking for another publishing partner.

Considering their financial situation, it's probably a wise move. Booths at trade shows are expensive and pretty much unnecessary. THQ can post videos on youtube or send information about games to sites like RPS or what have you and get much more exposure than they'd get from a booth at E3.

Nintendo has historically never attended the Tokyo Game Show and they have done alright for themselves.

Makes sense, as someone else mentioned its nothing but wasted money alot of the time. I do not see why companies cannot just stick a chunk of unedited gameplay on youtube, sooner have that, then 100s of useless written previews and screenshots.

But yeah, doing E3 costs millions for a big publisher, sometimes 100s of millions reportedly. (Which is why E3 was cancelled for a couple of years, as the big guys said "this is just getting stupid"). Considering how much more value they could get with normal PR and marketing for that money, it's almost certainly the right call.

I can see why they aren't doing a booth. THQ are trying to be sensible with their money and focus on 'core' franchises. Company of Heroes, Dawn of War, Darksiders, South Park, Metro and even Homefront 2 are all good/potentially good games, they don't have a whole lot shovelware now at all.

Wasn't Relic onto something as well? I think it was some warhammer game and something else?

So, basically, games that have only just been announced, are in early development or are due to release within months of E3.

Nothing worth them showing considering their financial situation, then.
