Most that I read are already mentioned but one I came across not that long ago is Fishbone.

If Dilbert qualifies then I put forth Foxtrot, the newspaper strip. Some caveats: I've read this comic off and on for over a decade, so I'm endeared to the characters at this point. The strip is just about a family. And final strike against, the strip went to weekly updating some time back. So these are its twilight years, probably.

On the plus side, Jason is a little geek and the comic can feature some pretty geeky stuff. Comics, science fiction, technology, and video games have been given more panels in recent years than have awkward teenage foibles. Lots of strips available in the archives or as paper collections from book stores, so you can enjoy for some time if you haven't been reading it. I think even the older ones are still fun to read.

Just looking through for some recent gems
    Here's a strip about the SW:TOR
And an awesome one about everyone's favorite TV doctor
    tag

While not biting or always hilarious, FoxTrot is comfortable, pleasant, and sometimes surprising. A nicely done strip that will stay amoungest my favorites of the last couple of decades.

How about some Hipster Hitler, but it doesn't update very often so probably won't fill the void for long.

Or some Manly Guys Doing Manly Things, it updates once a week.

Prequel -or- Making a Cat Cry: The Adventure. Basically, torture porn of a Khajiit set in Cyrodiil before the events of Oblivion.
Nerf NOW!! Basically, a Blizzard/Valve-obsessed Brazilian who draws lots and lots of fanservice.

But in terms of damn girl get out of my mind, there's always Awkward Zombie.

So, the only five online comics you will ever need, if you are into the more fantasy or storytelling thing that still delivers the funnies.

Guilded Age - www.guildedage.net - no robots. Wonderful characters, written by the talented T Campbell and Phil Kahn. Glorious storylines. Frigg is my hero.

Goblins has been mentioned above and can be found at www.goblinscomic.com. Goblins turned adventurers - sometimes hilarious, sometimes incredibly touching. That storyline with the blind bugbear and the deaf and crippled kobold? MAN.

A recent discovery of mine is the utterly gorgeous Battlepug at www.battlepug.com - the art is INCREDIBLE, and the setting is unique. Think Conan the Barbarian as told by Scherhazade to two little dogs.

Oglaf at oglaf.com has also been recommended. Definitely NSFW but so, so funny.

Finally there is Girl Genius by Phil Foglio and his wife, which features some clockworks but no wisecracking robot. It also consistently and deservedly keeps winning every kind of award thrown at the webcomic scene in general. It is perfection. And free. I also own all the books. Found at www.girlgeniusonline.com

    Enjoy!

Last Days of Foxhound always makes me smile. It's finished, so everything is there for your pleasure.

Although it'll probably be more suited to a MGS fan due to the amount of in-jokes and whatnot, but hey ho, you might like it anyway :P

Things I read om the internet:
    xkcd - but that's out
questionable content - has talking robots, so no
penny arcade - still funny sometimes
cyanide and happiness - I like this
amazing superpowers - reminds me a bit of happiness
dr mcninja - awesome, although it's better to read it in bulk
oglaf - updates one nsfw day a week, I still read it at work while looking over my shoulder
perry bible fellowship - awesome, but almost no updates the last couple of years

And Girl Genius, probably one of the better comics I know of, on and off the internet. Reminds me a bit about Bone, about the same mix of humour and adventure, but I like girlgenius a bit better.

I'd recommend something like - well:
Clichequest (skewering of all things MMO)
No Need for Bushido (nominally feudal Japan, but I don't even know)
Both have given me many a laugh. Both are also fairly infrequently updated these days (or rather, always have been).

Or there's Outsider. Beautifully drawn and interestingly set up sci-fi comic. Updates are at a snail's pace here too though.

Dr McNinja is SO GREAT, but we've already got that covered. Man, one time I made a Dr McNinja halloween costume. It was a big hit - not that anyone actually knew the comic around here...

Hey, how come nobody mention Lackadaisy in here? I read 2 whole volumes of it and it's still going. Don't know when's the next update, though. But it's a good read if you like mob stories. And cats.

Gunnerkrieg Court. Talking robots, but they don't make jokes.
Crimson Dark (finished) which has cyborgs, but no robots.

A friend makes this, and I host it for free on my personal server: Jayden and Crusader

Who cares? As long as the contents are good, I don't mind.

Along the same lines as Garfield minus Garfield posted earlier, there's also http://3eanuts.com/

    To quote the creator:

Charles Schulz's Peanuts comics often conceal the existential despair of their world with a closing joke at the characters' expense. With the last panel omitted, despair pervades all.

Power Nap is pretty good. It's also, as far as my aesthetic tastes go, the best drawn webcomic on the web at the minute: http://www.powernapcomic.com/d/20120418.html

    Oh and Schlock Mercenary: http://www.schlockmercenary.com/
Probably my favourite, overall, comic on the web at the minute. And the one that Girl Genius keeps on beating to all the awards. =D Be warned that the first couple of hundred strips are not drawn well, but the story makes and the funny makes up for it, and it does get better as time progresses. Though be warned it has been updating seven days a week for 12 years... so there is some catching up to do. On the bright side that does mean that there's several large story arcs to enjoy at your leisure before you have to start reading them one day at a time!

The Penny Arcade guys do a side strip called Tales From The Trenches. It's comics accompanying Consumerist-style horror tales from anonymous contributors working in the games industry; usually QA. It's not bad.

I also love a few comics already mentioned in the thread - Hark A Vagrant, Cyanide and Happiness, and Penny Arcade. Channel Ate is cute too.

Hmm, what hasnt already been mentioned?

Ahah! Doesnt look like anyone has talked about Three Panel Soul.

    Dresden Codak
can be pretty good as well, plus I love the art style.

I dont think VG Cats has got a mention yet either.

Oh, and Gone with the Blastwave.

And what the hell, I'll give Perry Bible Fellowship another mention too, since its one of the funniest webcomics I know.
